18 Motivational Quotes You Can Use To fire Your Way to Success even if you are down
and out.
Sometimes, finding a way past the blank screen can be difficult.
At such times words travel far from you and it’s just you and the screen.
Matter of fact, writing is a lonely game.
One way to beat this trap is to get high on motivation.
And I mean your own dose of motivation.
Everyone has their favorite words that seem to speak to them and inspire to focus and take the
next necessary steps.
For me these are some of my favored motivational quotes that come to my mind.
Enjoy these with me:
1. "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants."
This is a popular quote by Isaac Newton and it is one I recall when things are a bit difficult.
To get a clearer and better perspective you should stand on the shoulders of giants. This quote
helps me realize that a solution is near at hand. There must be a book, a resource, to help you get
out that fix.
So instead of complaining and wringing your hands, just consult an expert.
I bet, you will save yourself time and jump over obstacles easily with this approach.
2.“Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that determines our
success or failure.”
Norman Vincent Peale
Attitude plays a big role in whether we succeed or not. The odds may be stacked against us but it
is what we do from that moment that matters. It is easy to throw in the towel.

Give up, when faced with tough situations backed with facts. But what happens if we just persist
a little longer and win in the end.
It is true that your attitude can determine your altitude.
Facts may matter but if you must get to the other side it is your attitude that will get you there.
There is something called bucking the trend.
3.“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.”
Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Having to wait, can make us uncomfortable. Patience is not a virtue that is held in high esteem
in today’s fast paced world.
But the man who can wait will surely get his reward. It takes time to grow a business.
For freelance writers, waiting to get accepted by clients can be a stressful period.
Pitching companies and startups without acknowledgement will bring about doubts in your
abilities but the key is to wait.
Sometimes the success factor will be to wait things out.
When patience is rewarded the fruits/rewards are sweet.
4. “The best revenge is massive success.” Frank Sinatra
What more can be added this quote?
Success will shut up your doubters.
Like they say success has many fathers.
So it’s time to roll up your sleeves and do the hard work that will lead to success.
Keep this quote at the back of your mind.
Write more than the required number of blog posts (as given by your mentor), pitch until you get
a stream of clients.
And then the satisfaction you will get when you see your doubters will be worth it.

5. Veni, vidi, vici “I came; I saw; I conquered.
Julius Caesar
It is one thing to start and another to end well.
This is one of my favorite quotes anytime.
This is a short quote packed with many lessons.
To start a process and see it through to success is really great.
It is triumph in all its glory.
Conquering your fears, conquering poverty and want is the hope of many around the world
today. Many start businesses, start freelancing careers to put food on the table for their families.
Some will stop along the way and others will go on to conquer their dreams. This quote is meant
for them.
Be part of those who conquer their dreams.
6. “Fortune favors the brave.”
Virgil
Courage is a great asset.
Having the ability to move forward when others are reluctant because of the risks involved will
put you ahead of your peers.
Taking on calculated risks head on, may appear daunting, but what happens if you actually
succeed.
Pioneers always take all the risks and then the benefits once they accomplish the purpose why
they started in the first place.
7. “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”
Lao Tzu
Lesson: If you don’t take that first step you will never make it to a thousand miles.

The entrepreneurial journey may seem long but if we refuse to take the jump we will remain
where we are.
It is important that we push procrastination away if we want to achieve our goals.
8. “Just do it.”
Nike
Nikes slogan explains it all.
Stop procrastination, control your fears and take the leap.
As each day comes we grow older. Things change and time is limited.
Putting off the pursuit of our dreams means we will stagnate.
Nike expects us to start off even if it means the conditions are not perfect.
Waiting for the perfect opportunity which may never come is a waste of time.
9. “Fight on my men,” says Sir Andrew Barton,
I am hurt, but I am not slain;
I'll lay me down and bleed a-while,
And then I'll rise and fight again".”
Thomas Moore
Sir Andrew Barton understood the importance of accepting reality and rest. Sometimes we are
beaten and there is nothing we can do.
All we can do is rest, recuperate and try again.
As long as we don’t give up, we will surely realize the target we set.
10. “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. ”
Aristotle.

Over time we become our habits. This quote is apt, to enable us develop good habits that will
ultimately lead to our success.
The time to start developing those excellent habits is now.
11. “If your ship doesn't come in, swim out to it.”
Jonathan Winters
Waiting for that opportunity to fall into your laps may never materialize.
I am guilty of this I must confess.
But every time I have taken initiative I have learnt something new.
What works and what doesn’t, you will find out.
Create the chance you seek and you will become a better business person.
12. “The more you learn, the more you earn.”
Warren Buffett
This is very true in today’s world.
The huge resources available for learning can be frustrating but to keep up and even be a leader
in your field, learning must take a major role.
Conscious and consistent learning will lead to expert status and thus more pay.
13. “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a
lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.
Vince Lombardi
It is also said “where there is a will there is a way.”
The man with a strong will to get the job done will move ahead of others.
He or she will beat down all opposition.
They will jump over every hurdle placed in their path and walk around the problem to get
solutions.

14.“Remember no matter how fast you run, you can't be the winner if you don't finish. As
someone said, to be the first to finish, you must finish first! Go, take the strike!”
Israelmore Ayivor.
To get the prize at the end means we must finish.
One can start a journey but if he doesn’t finish it is obvious he cannot emerge the winner.
Staying power will help you see that project through and get the rewards that come with
finishing.
15. “A failure is a man who has blundered but is not able to cash in on the experience.”
Elbert Hubbard
The keyword here is experience.
All of your experiences including your failures can be cashed for greater dividends.
What Elbert Hubbard is saying here is that even your failure, is a great resource you can cash in
on.
Many people have blundered along the way and at last succeeded because they learnt from their
past failures. Anyone who can do this will be on the path of success.
16. “He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not
reap.”
Ecclesiastes 11:4
From the best seller; THE HOLY BIBLE.
This should get you up in the morning, ready to start and complete your projects.
This verse from the Bible tells us to start and continue without batting an eye lid.
There is no perfect situation so just start off.
Start that project, that business, that new habit.
If we look at all the obstacles before us, we will do nothing worthwhile.

17. “Life is in seconds and minutes, not in weeks and years, so live a day at a time.”
Bishop Chris Kwakpovwe.
Sometimes we are swamped with work.
In fact we may be confused with all the ideas and deadlines jamming in our heads.
If this is so then this quote above should help you focus on the present.
It is not wrong to plan for the future but we must understand that the present will dictate the
future. So do your best work now.
18. “Become an alchemist if you must beat the odds.”
Joseph K. Enueme
In life, we cannot predict exactly the outcomes.
Adversity does not discriminate, and so one must learn to turn adversity to fortune when it
comes.
It is easy to want to throw in the towel but like an alchemist you can turn that unpleasantness
into a sweet opportunity. If we look deep enough and long enough the gold is there.
I dare say, there are more quotes that came to mind as you went through this piece. Motivation is
highly necessary to get your work done.
What we must take home is that these quotes are meant to motivate us towards our goals and not
replace the hard work involved in the process.
And a lesson we should not forget is that we should not wait for anyone to motivate and inspire
us. Self-motivation should be what we must cultivate constantly. Doing this will help us stay
focused and march towards our target.
