I’ve recently been to the English corner”, which I believe qualifies for your “Reader’s review”, due to being a top quality hidden place you may not know of. Without further ado, the review:
I have been searching for a place to brunch for a long time. My pals from a blog I tend to visit recently published a review about this hidden place, “The English Corner” with high praises. I met those praises with skepticism, mostly due to past experiences with these kinds of cafes. While this particular café can certainly be improved, it wasn’t the trainwreck experience I was expecting.
As advertised, it has that charming style. Love it or hate it, it is here to stay, which I personally find awesome. If I want something generic, there’s McDonalds. Not so awesome is its size, which feels cramped and claustrophobic at times. Old buildings have those quirks, but still, a con. As I like to say, go big or go home, so I went with a full brunch menu. Now, when the waitress asked me about preferences, she agreed on undercooking the food slightly, which is uncommon (health safety “issues”) It was worth it, the meat slightly juicy, the egg yolks runny, everything properly spiced… I could go on and on, but you get the gist.
Now 15 euros is on the pricey side, but considering food quality alone, the price is justified. Add a good service, and here we have a bargain. Just leave a spot open for me, I want seconds!
