Mission Statement:
To inspire lifelong curiosity and growth in the community through technology and to provide a
safe and engaging environment for families and the community to thrive in, expanding on the
knowledge that is filled in the aisles of this library.
I.
Design plans for each floor
A. First building (Genos Library)
1. Basement: The Basement of the building will hold routers as well as all
backup equipment.
2. First floor: The first floor of the library contains workstations and
printers for the public as well as several computers for employee use. The
Network Administrator has a workstation with a static IP address.
3. Second floor: The second floor has four workstations across the floor for
the library patrons.
4. Third Floor: The third floor has four workstations across the floor for
library patrons.
5. Fourth Floor: The fourth floor contains several computer labs available for
public use. These are each separated from the rest of the network for
security purposes.
B. Second building (Genos Branch Archives)
1. Basement: The basement houses one computer as well as massive external
hard drives designed to record historical works.
2. Ground floor: The ground floor hosts a reception desk that has a VPN
connection to the main library building.

Topology:
Network Topology
In this topology we first have an ISP connect to our main Router. We also have a vpn in front of
the router before it connects to all the other smaller routers and then switches. Then we would
have Single Mode Fiber to run to the two different building since they are about a mile apart
from each other it would be more resourceful to rely on single mode rather than multimode in
this case. Then the smaller router connects to all the other switches as well.
Building Topology:
VLAN 110: This vlan is separates the network of the computer labs in the Library.
VLAN 125: This vlan is only made for the staff that works front desk at the library.
VLAN 140: This vlan is for the few workstations around the library used to search for books.
VLAN 155: This vlan is made only for the access point in the building.
IP address: 191.X.X.160 /20

2. Subnet Mask:-. Networks: 16
4. Hosts: 4096
5. Usable Hosts per network: 4094
Genos Library Floor Plans
BASEMENT
In the basement there is three rooms, The first room is for routers and other server equipment, it
also houses the demarcation point of the building. the second is for the server, and the third is the
control center for the security cameras. In the basement we have a stairwell that will take you to
the first floor of Genos Library.
FIRST FLOOR
On the first floor there is two main entrances with double doors, The first double door will take
you to the front main desk that has a computer and a telephone. There are twenty workstations, A
Wiring closet and a men and a women’s restrooms, And in front of the restrooms there is an
Elevator that goes up to the Fourth Floor.
SECOND AND THIRD FLOOR
The Second and Third Floors have identical designs and workstations are exclusively allowed to
search the library’s collection and do not have access to the web. We have four workstations on
both floors for this purpose. Wiring runs underneath the carpet and into the wiring closet where it
connects to the main switch and allows the content to be filter.
FOURTH FLOOR
On the fourth Floor of Genos Library there is two lab rooms and each lab rooms contain thirty
workstations, A separate workstation for the instructor. A wiring closet, Both a men and
women’s restrooms, And last an elevator.

Wiring Closet:
The wiring closet consist of a patch panel and switches depending how many you need to give
network access to the building. So we configure the switch ports depending if there is to a wall
jack or access point, this way we can determine if we are going to need to have PoE on for
jack..There would be a fiber cable connecting to the switch by an SFP and then it would run a
CAT 6 cable from the switch to the patch panel. Then the patch panel distributes all the cables to
their locations around the building.

Servers:-$999.00
Servers are computer program or a device that provides functionality for other programs or
devices. Servers are reliable hardware that are accessed by the workstations around the building.
In this instance we will be providing 4 servers a Domain Name Server (DNS), Dynamic Host
configuration Protocol server. Archive Directory server, and a Virtual Private Network. The
DNS server will be used to monitor public IP addresses and their associated hosts. DHCP will be
used for to issue unique information to these IP addresses. The Archive Directory will be used
solely for storing data. All of these servers will be ran on a VPN of course. These servers will be
placed in the basement of the library. The door will have a lock, while the IT administrator and
owner of the library a key. The room will be kept at 32 degrees Fahrenheit to keep the servers
cool.

Fluke devices
Fluke Devices are portable troubleshooting device for testing and verifying the physical and data
link layers of a network. They are used to perform automated connectivity tests to help identify
network problems.they are useful in identifying cable infrastructure, including length and type of
both structured or patch cables, to help uncover potential issues. They can also verify network
drops and identifies link types, device capabilities, and link speed to help diagnose and solve
complex issues. Tests connectivity to network resources, and response time to determine whether
a PC NIC is responding or if the issue lies outside a workstation.
Troubleshooting/FAQ
Confirm the computer has power
Always check the cables: If you're having trouble with a specific piece of
computer hardware, such as your monitor or keyboard, check and make sure they
are are correctly connected. In case of a networking problem, consider using a
fluke device to see if the cable needs replacement
Restart the computer: When all else fails, restart the computer.
Application Running Slow
Close and reopen the application.
Update the application. To do this, click the Help menu and look for an option to check for
Updates.
Frozen Application
Force quit the application. On a PC, you can press (and hold) Ctrl+Alt+Delete (the Control, Alt,
and Delete keys) on your keyboard to open the Task Manager.
Blank Screen
The computer may be in Sleep mode. Click the mouse or press any key on the keyboard to wake
it.
