PIXEL HUGS -Tentative Series Road Map- Written by Johan Adrián 1 1. - EPISODE 1 - Rollercoaster Glitch Keywords/Theme: Intro, Wish, Rollercoaster, Pets Magical Bone found in: [End of Rollercoaster] Synopsis: A little girl by the name “Lia” desires the company of her toys so much that she activates the “Pixel Magic” they contain. This allows her to enter “Pixelia,” where she finds an amusement park with a roller coaster that promises to grant her a wish. Up in the attraction, she needs to get a magical bone that will grant her any wish. After learning more about her pet toys' innate magical pixel abilities and escaping a vicious attack from an unknown foe, Lia wishes her toys to come to life, and she’s granted her wish.​ ​ Now she has a magical secret to keep. 2. - EPISODE 2 - Pirate Pixels Keywords/Theme: Pirate Adventure, Ship, Island Magical Bone found in: [Forbidden Island] Outline:​ ●​ Lia is sad because her dad is away for work. So she starts watching a funny movie about a beach. She remembers the first time she saw the beach as a baby and wishes to go back there with his parents. ●​ Blackie and Pinkie drag her to Pixelia, where they have an adventure: they’re chased by a Scary Pirate (Glitch in disguise) until they reach the “Forbidden Island.” ●​ Following a treasure map, they find the bone and escape Glitch. ●​ Back at home, his dad returns and surprises her. They are going to the beach for real! 2 3. - EPISODE 3 - Pixels and Knights Keywords/Theme: Princes, Knights, and Dragons Magical Bone found in: [Princess’ Tower] Outline:​ ●​ Lia sees a little girl being bullied at school by a bigger boy. The bully laughs, and she imagines him as an evil dragon. ●​ That night before going to bed, she wishes she could protect the little girl, so the next day, the dogs sneak into her backpack and open the pixel portal, dragging both the little girl (who becomes a Princess in Pixelia) and the bully (who becomes a dragon after being possessed by Glitch). ●​ Lia and the dogs (as knights) must fight the dragon to retrieve the princess from a high tower. Upon release, the princess gives them the magical bone as a gift. The dragon transforms into a ridiculous clown. ●​ They return to the school, and the next thing they see is everybody laughing at the sad clown. Lia and the girl high-five and shush each other in complicity as the dogs hide in her backpack. 4. - EPISODE 4 - Pixel Hunters vs. Zombies Keywords/Theme: Monster hunters, Zombie, Apocalypse Magical Bone found in: [Tomb/Crypt] Outline:​ ●​ The pets show Lia a screen with different options to choose from: we see Zombie Apocalypse, Outer Space Travel, Alien Invasion, and Superhero Adventure. ●​ They make it clear she can only choose one. She chooses “Zombie Apocalypse,” and the dogs bark in excitement. ●​ We have a “tower defense” episode (much like a Plants vs. Zombies game), and they defeat all zombies in a cemetery. ●​ When she finds the Magical Bone in the crypt, she wishes to live the rest of the scenarios some other time. The dogs exchange a worried glance and look back at her with a forced smile. 3 ●​ Glitch is seen reviving at the end, B-Movie style. 5. - EPISODE 5 - Pixelnauts Keywords/Theme: Astronauts, Space Adventure Magical Bone found in: [Saturn’s Moon Enceladus] Outline:​ ●​ Lia is upset because her room is too small. So she wishes she could have more space. ●​ Enter Pixelia, and they head straight to a rocket. They live a Space adventure in which they visit the Planet Saturn. Once there, Glitch appears (it comes out of a hurricane or something like that) ●​ Running away from Glitch, they find their way into a wormhole. It’s signaled as a commute to Enceladus (a moon). They jump in it and have a wild ride that looks like a rainbow tunnel. They find the bone in the moon. Glitch tries to enter, too, but the thing expels it into outer space, Aliens-style. Unknown creatures lurk in the dark. ●​ Back at home, Lia is surprised by a new, bigger room that her parents built for her. 6. - EPISODE 6 - Pix-alien Invasion! Keywords/Theme: Alien Invasion, Extraterrestrials Magical Bone found in: [Alien Mothership] Outline:​ ●​ Cold opening: Everyone’s in Pixelia, and the Aliens have invaded the place. We see EVERYONE (including Glitch) fighting them. At some point, Lia proposes a truce. They must join forces with Glitch to save Pixelia. ●​ Together, they build a cannon that shoots Glitch into the Alien Mothership. The ship glitches badly until it explodes. ●​ After the blast, some sections of the sky seem to malfunction: we see RGB LEDs out of sync here and there (so the world looks like a dome screen with broken pixels everywhere). ●​ Back on the ground, Glitch catches the magical bone. Lia 4 and the dogs are thrown into the real world as Glitch laughs 7. - EPISODE 7 - Pixel Heroes - Pt. 1 Keywords/Theme: Superheroes, Supervillains, Superpowers Magical Bone found in: [???] Outline:​ ●​ Lia is reading a comic book on the school bus on her way home. The characters resemble Vision & Scarlet Witch. ●​ At home, she shows the pets her comics and wishes to become a superhero, as she’s worried about what Glitch is doing in Pixelia. ●​ They enter Pixelia and find a magical bone right away, like it’s no big deal. She grabs it, but has no chance to use it. Super Glitch charges against them, glitchier and more powerful than ever (think of this crappy Galactus, but also have some cool shots making him look more like this one). Glitch must look terrifying. ●​ Lia manages to hide somewhere and activates the bone with his wish. She transforms into Saturna-Lia, a cool superhero that looks somewhat like a Saturn Girl/Vision hybrid with a glowing bone on her forehead. ●​ The episode ends abruptly as she walks out to face Super Glitch. This is a good moment for this shot. 8. - EPISODE 8 - Pixel Heroes - Pt. 2 Keywords/Theme: Superheroes, Supervillains, Superpowers Magical Super Bone found in: [Glitch] Outline:​ ●​ Start right where we left off. Now we see “Super” versions of Blacky and Pinky. They literally orbit her as they deploy, protecting shields. ●​ We have an Avengers-level battle against Glitch. Saturna-Lia eventually defeats it using a finishing move inspired by Saturn’s rings. ●​ Super Glitch explodes and all its negative glitchy energy is absorbed by the bone (which now becomes a glitchy super bone). We hear unknown barks, and with a 5 dramatic camera movement, it is revealed that “Glitchy” was another pretty pet all along. He looks a bit weird but is friendly and thankful for having been saved. 9. - EPISODE 9 - Circuit City Pixels - Pt. 1 Keywords/Theme: Circuits, Beyond Pixelia, Revelations Glitchy Super Bone Use: Outline:​ ●​ Lia looks upset and impatient. She wants to play on her PC, but it starts updating stuff, and she can’t play. She wishes she could understand how computers work. ●​ Glitchy seems too excited and tries to give Lia the Glitchy Super Bone, but she’s not in the mood to play fetch, and it’s not listening to her. Glitchy is sad. Now Lia hugs Pinky and they Oz their way back into Pixelia one more time. ●​ But when they get there, the place is unrecognizable. The little rendering errors we saw in Ep6 are now EVERYWHERE. They approach the river from Ep1, and the thing breaks before their eyes. It stops rendering and freezes. They explore the world for a while and find similar errors in known places. Glitchy keeps being more and more irritating until Lia finally “listens to it.” Glitchy hands her the Glitchy Super Bone and barks at THE SOURCE. ●​ Instead of the fields of Pixelia, an ominous circuit path with sixteen golden lanes blazes under their feet as their surroundings flicker and lose opacity, and textures fade. Rendering mistakes all around them. ●​ The path leads to this rainbowy-looking source that beckons the pets with its techno-monolith babbling. Other Pixel Pets we’ve never seen before are attracted by The Source’s power from all directions and seem to disintegrate once they touch it. ●​ Lia screams when she hears The Source "speak” and covers her ears. The episode ends immediately with a dramatic shot of Blacky and Pinky getting ready to fight. 6 10. - EPISODE 10 - Circuit City Pixels - Pt. 2 Keywords/Theme: Circuits, Beyond Pixelia, Goodbyes Glitchy Super Bone Use: [As GPU Core Update Key] Outline:​ ●​ Lia looks down at the Glitchy Super Bone and throws it over the glowing lanes in horror, where it dissolves into a river of zeros and ones. ●​ Glitchy starts glitching hard as it approaches The Source (it has left the group behind). As it glances back at Lia, it smiles, and she has a shocked look on her face. She understands what's going on as Pinky and Blacky start glitching too. ●​ Lia knows he has to let Blacky and Pinky go. Their Pixel-Sparks leave their bodies in the direction of the data lanes after a final group pixel hug. Lia waves them goodbye, and after they dissolve into The Source, Pixelia shuts down, absorbed into the depths of the GPU core as Lia is expelled back into reality. (POV) She blacks out. ●​ (POV) Lia wakes up and goes to her computer. She sits down and places her three Pixel Pets™ (Blacky, Pinky, Glitchy) around her desk. ●​ The shot widens as Lia’s dad enters the room for a brief moment: he puts a smoking cup of cocoa on her desk and caresses her head in silence before leaving. We see the weather outside the window, it’s a tranquil and snowy afternoon. ●​ The camera pans from the actual window to a window in her computer monitor that reads “Update Complete”. She clicks on “Play Now,” and a game splash pops up. As she starts playing a new game called Pixel Hugs 2™, a single tear of happiness rolls down her cheek.
