today. The Korean culture has been taking the world by storm. Each year, new
companies release new groups and produce top-selling albums and chart-topping
singles continuously.

BTS (방탄소년단)

Also known as “Bulletproof Boyscouts,” BTS has been to break multiple world records
and dominating charts worldwide. The seven-member band boasts multiple sold-out
stadium tours and named as some most influential people just last year. Their 2019
album “Map of the Soul: Persona,” which features hit single “Boy with Luv ft. Halsey,”
was said to have won the group up to 132 awards in both by December 2019. Their
newest release “Map of the Soul: 7,” released last February 2020, is already gaining its
own list of awards. The group was recognized as United Nations Youth Ambassadors in
2019 until present, and has launched multiple projects—the most recent being “BTS
Connect,” promoting artworks and funding museum shows worldwide.
BLACKPINK (블랙핑크)

One of the biggest girl groups to date, Blackpink has already gained their reputation
from their solo works before even debuting as a girl group. Blackpink is widely known
for their multiple hit singles like “Kill this Love,” and “Ddu-Ddu-Ddu.” The group was the
first to play at California’s famous Coachella. Aside from being the highest charting
female K-Pop act, Blackpink is also famous for being the ambassador of multiple wellknown brands like Louis Vuitton, Adidas, and many more.
TOMORROW X TOGETHER (투모로우바이투게더)

Tomorrow x Together, or TXT, is Bighit’s newest boyband and the first one to debut
after BTS. Despite being new to the scene, the group had already broken their own fair
share of records. Their debut single “Crown” holds the record for the most views for a KPop debut music video within 24 hours for a boy group. Their debut albums topped
multiple different charts in Korea. Their first US tour was sold out on all dates within the
first 10 minutes. Following their seniors, TXT also raked in multiple wins at Korea’s
countless year-end awards including the “New Artist of the Year Awards” at the
prestigious Melon Music Awards. The group recently announced their third album
coming this May 2020, following the release of “Dream Chapter: Magic” last October
2019.
