“The miracle that

Veltraino became the basis
of the Pope in having this

from a severe heart disease.
After her devotion to Fr.

According to Mrs.

Edukasyon’ held at General Trias Convention Center last August 1.
The gathering which was attended by DepEd officials, local government officials, educators, teachers,
parents and students centered on
the plans and steps to be undertaken
by the municipality as Senior High

An estimated total amount of
41 million will be given by the local
government for the construction of
the separate stand alone senior high
school as the municipality’s back up
to similar 41.1 million worth of donation by PAGCOR.
In an interview with Chairman of
Committee on Education Jonas Glyn
Labuguen, he mentioned that the
41.1 million donation acquired by
Congressman Luis ‘Jon-Jon’ Ferrer
from PAGCOR is intended for 4-storey
20-classroom building which is now
under construction in a 2,000 squaremeter land area at South Square
Subdivision in Pasong Kawayan.
The said building is inclusive of
stage which is also seen to have its
completion this year.
Another 4-storey 20-classroom
building which is estimated to
amount to 41 million and funded by
the local government unit will immediately follow.
Labuguen noted, “We all know
that senior high school is a nationwide preparation. It is a national
agency’s program in which the local government is only a support.
So whatever assistance we could
extend, we try our best to provide
them.”

on Education is currently gathering
data from public high schools to anticipate the number of students who
will enter senior high and to fully prepare the municipality in this big leap
in the country’s education sector.
At present, the local government
prioritizes the students who are
coming from the eight public high
schools in GenTri.
The local government according
to Labuguen is also continuously
communicating with DepEd for fur-
ther assistance that could be given
by the former.
“The education of the Gentriseños is very important for us. We are
all aware that our town in a few
months will become a city. As our
town reaches this stage, the young
Gentriseños are our priority because
they will become future leaders of
our municipality so we want to uplift
the quality of their education,” added
Labuguen.

Thirty-one thousand pesos of

In the light of the
implementation of the K12
program, many things were
changed and continue to change.
One of these changes is the grading
system, which teachers notice as
changing every year. From the
traditional computation to KPUP
and now, the new grading system
where students are assessed based
on their performance task, written
task and quarterly assessment.
Teachers noticed that there are
advantages and disadvantages
of the new grading system. We
asked the 68 teachers of Biclatan
Annex whether they approve or
disapprove this new system or not
and here’s what they have to say.
Most of the teachers have the
same reasons why they approve
the new grading system: it is easier,
more systematized, there is already
a template (the E-class record) that
automatically computes the grades
once they are entered in the system,
and easily understood by students
and parents.
For those who disapprove, their
reasons are: lazy students will not
be able to meet the standards,
since the raw scores are directly
computed, the teacher has no
chance to be subjective in some
aspects where they want to add
points.

Remulla aimed to modernize
Cavite province through technological programs and projects
as his government distributed
tablets to 2,000 elementary
and secondary teachers of General Trias and Tanza held at
the Provincial Gymnasium in
Trece Martires City last July 7.
The modernization program of
the provincial government aims to
specifically integrate technology
to education and address the
backlog of teachers when it comes
to technological advancement.
In his speech, Remulla said,
“We want to modernize Cavite”
and mentioned that the way
to modernizing the province
is through the teachers.
During the event, teachers
also underwent a short training
conducted by Microsoft Philippines,
Cavite’s partner in the program.
Clarissa Segismundo, Microsoft’s
education program leader said
that their mission is to educate
the teachers to adapt the way
learning has evolved and guide
them with the right skills.
On the other hand, OIC Schools
Division Superintendent Ms.
Cherrylou De Mesa who was also
present in the event, stressed to the
teachers that they have to maximize
the use of tablets and produce
media materials for the children
which will eventually inspire them.
“Please give high premium to
our students and be of better service
to our learners,” said De Mesa.
Remulla also mentioned
that Lingkod Kabitenyo, another
project involving technology
is on its way to realization.
The project aims to make Cavite a
wi-fi zone province giving the Caviteños
free access to internet in October 2016.
Through Lingkod Kabitenyo,
everything will all be linked to the
internet which will be provided
by the provincial government.
“We must dedicate all our
resources in order to make schools
better,” ended Remulla.

Wilson Vilan’s electrifying heroics as
they survived the Green Dribblers in the
celebration of the World Teachers’ Day
Basketball Friendship Match in Madre
Vendramin Gymnasium, October 9, 2015.
The Shooters were leading with a
two-point advantage before a missed
shot attempt from the Dribblers’

Vilan waxed hot right from the get-go
as he tallied 15 points to clinch the

In the third set, the game got
more intense and this time, the
Kickers again threw netball errors
committed by Justine Sabañao and
Cubcubin; thus, giving in to Trece at
15-12.
The second regu started with
King Ananca making her presence
felt through his aggressive moves
but it was not enough, for Trece
scored the first three points forcing
the Kickers to commit outside errors.
But due to Trece’s John Louie
Palima’s failure to complete his
bicycles, the Kickers seized the set
with a close 15-13.
The second set got more intense
as Trece once again scored 4
consecutive points. Ananca’s deadly
stunts did not matter at all; his
cartwheel drives even resulted to
consecutive errors that ended the
set with 15-12 in favor of Trece.
In the third set, the two teams
Intramural Meet
Dribblers, gathered 20 and nine points
respectively which sent strong signal of
connections for the Dribblers the rest
of the game. Bautista clearly exhibited
his jaw dropping scoring prowess as he
empowered the Dribblers offense during the
fourth quarter. T. Jordan Del Mundo’s tight
defense also helped the dominant Shooters
as they dismissed the pesky Dribblers.
Earlier, The Dribblers came out of the
dug-out as if they were really determined
to win in the match. The Vidan-led Shooters
created a nerve-breaking match for the
Bautista-directed Dribblers as they reigned
the action-packed battle. The Dribblers,
built up of an all-star teachers roster,
scratched past the Dribblers’ big players.

attempt of 35.34 meters.
Marykris Seranilla also captured the silver medal in javelin
girls with a 25.26 meter hit on her first attempt longer than her
previous throw. She was also second in shotput throwing up
to 18.45 meters, longer than her first attempt of 17.82 meters.

throwing events. We are proud of each other, “Seranilla said in

best for last and seated comfortably
on his bicycles and cartwheels
which led the Gentri Kickers to the
most memorable win of their sports
experience.
Prior to the championship,
Team GenTri lost to the undefeated
Team Trece during the quarterfinals
making the latter enjoy their
twice to beat advantage in the
championship.
During the finals, the Kickers
started the first set of the first regu
with consecutive errors coming from
Ehm-jae Cubcubin, giving the other
side the chance to take advantage of
it and taking the set with 15-10.
The Kickers tried to hobble back
in the second set using heading and
drop ball techniques well executed
by Cubcubin, grabbing the set with
16-14 scores.
In her second match with
CABT, the Ferrerian smasher
dazed her rival with 21-10.
During the battle for third,
Botones battled against Tropical
Village National High School
scoring a tied 20-20 forcing two
extra hits to win the game.
The Tropical contender smashed
a good service, making Botones
unable to come back despite
determination; the former got the
point and overtook at 21-20.
The burned out Botones gave up
on the second try and her opponent
closed the game with 22-20; credit
to Tropical’s good service again
making them advance to the finals.
“I was already tired during the
game. Though I did not win this year,
I will try my best next year. Fifth place
is not bad,” said Botones smiling.

were instrumental in grabbing the
set with 15-12 in favor of Team
Gentri.
There was no doubt Team Gentri
would also grab the second set as
the team stunned their opponents
with drop balls and quick set ups,
ending the set at 15-11.
In the last crucial set, the three
Kickers combined forces and seized
the momentum to finish the game at
15-12, not giving Trece any chance to
come back.
“This year is the best yet the
saddest one for me because this is
my last year in Team Gentri and in
Biclatan Annex but definitely this
will not be the last game for me in
Sepak Takraw. I am still hoping to

Biclatan Annex fails

B
iclatan Annex once again
failed to secure a title in
Boys’ Baseball despite tremendous attempt to overthrow the
undefeated champion Main
School during the Intramural
Meet held at Santiago Sports
Park last August 15.
The first set started with the
two outs committed by Rodel
Pamplona and Daniel Abuyog of
Biclatan.
When Main school’s batter
Paul Abella positioned himself to
hit the ball he felt right away that
Biclatan’s pitcher was nervous due
to his low throws. When Abella got
the chance, he hit the ball and was
able to reach the second base.
The momentum continued and
Main snatched the first point of
the game 1-0, on their way to the
second set.
The second set started with a
hard hit from the player of Biclatan
that led to a homerun and tied the
game at 1-1.
At the third set, the first batter
from Biclatan hit the ball and ran
to the second base. As the second
batter hit the next ball he went
back and forth from second and
third base but ended on the second
due to Main’s quick recovery.
Biclatan’s third batter went to
the third base, fourth to the first
base, fifth got a strike call from the
referee, the sixth got injured and
the last batter got out due also to
his three strikes leaving Biclatan in
a 2-1 scoring.
The fourth and last set was
ended through a home run coming
from a strong hit of one of the
players of Main School.
The game ended at 3-1 in favor
of the defending champion.
“It is really difficult for us to win
the game because we all know that
in our school, we have no space for
us to practice baseball. Plus, you’re
going up against the defending
champion, it was really difficult,”
says Pamplona in an interview.
