• reduces pH fluctuation in spa water
• protects tub & equipment from corrosion
A Pocket Reference Guide
for easy spa care
Hot tubs are meant to be enjoyed, not
labored over. The Natural Chemistry
spa program offers proactive products
that keep water crystal clear with
less maintenance. Don’t spend time
working on water care when you
could be relaxing instead.
Beautiful water - less money!
For total alkalinity levels below 80 ppm, use Natural
Chemistry’s Spa Alkalinity Increaser ™ to bring it into
proper range. Total alkalinity should always be adjusted
first.
What if total alkalinity is too high?
If total alkalinity is too high, it can create cloudy water
& scale issues. For total alkalinity levels above 120ppm,
use Natural Chemistry’s Spa pH Decreaser™ as directed
to lower level to proper range

Keeping pH levels in range is a key part of maintaining
crystal clear, simple to maintain spa water.
Depending on the water source and frequency of water
additions to the spa, calcium hardness will require
occasional adjustments.
pH Levels
Ideal pH level is between 7.2-7.6
Why is pH level important?
• provides ideal water conditions for bather comfort
• allows for optimum sanitizer efficiency
• protects tub and equipment from corrosion
What if the pH level is below 7.2?
Use Natural Chemistry's Spa pH Increaser ™ to raise it
into proper range.
What if pH level is above 7.6?
Use Natural Chemistry's Spa pH Decreaser™ to reduce
it to proper range.

Calcium Hardness
Ideal calcium hardness level: 150 - 250ppm
Why is calcium hardness important?
• protects tub & equipment from corrosion
If calcium hardness level is below 150ppm, use Natural
Chemistry's Spa Calcium Hardness Increaser™ to bring
it into proper range.
What if calcium hardness levels are high?
If the calcium hardness level is above the ideal range,
it can lead to water appearing cloudy. It can also cause
calcium deposits and scaling on spa surfaces, in heater
elements, on the filter or in plumbing.
Use Spa Stain & Scale Control™ to protect spa surfaces
& equipment.
See Maintain section of this guide.

sanitizer
maintain
Proper sanitizing of spa water is vital to kill bacteria.
Sanitizer levels should be tested regularly. Chlorine or
bromine can be used to sanitize spa water. Natural
Chemistry provides both options. Remember to always
follow label directions carefully.
Our spa maintenance products are designed to simplify
water care. Using smart technologies, these products
will reduce the amount of time and effort needed to
maintain crystal clear, sparkling water.

removes problem-causing phosphates
to help maintain sparkling clear water.
Simply add 1 capful per 500 gallons
weekly as a maintenance and let
Cleanse Weekly do the rest of the
work.

remedy
Controling metals and calcium in spa water can reduce
unnecessary time and effort spent on water care. Left
untreated, metals can cause staining issues and calcium
can lead to scale on equipment and spa surfaces.
Remedy products are designed to quickly resolve problems
that can arise in spa water. One in particular, Pipe Cleanse,
can be used both proactively each time you drain and
reactively when water clarity issues are resistent to other
treatment methods. You may be surprised at what comes
out of your hot tub plumbing.
Stain & Scale Control™
Stain & Scale Control helps to control the damaging
effects of scale buildup and staining due to excessive
calcium, iron, copper and other minerals.
This product does not contain harsh acids and will not
add problem-causing phosphates like many other stain
and scale products may.
Pipe Cleanse™
Initial Dose:
Add 8oz per 200 gallons directly to spa water.
Directions for use:
1. Remove cartridge filter elements (it is recommended
to clean spa cartridges every time the spa is drained).
Weekly Maintenance:
Add 1oz per 200 gallons directly to spa water.
Note: If water hardness level is above 400 ppm, double
the weekly maintenance dose.
Do not exceed recommended dose.*
*Note: Cationic polymers used in many
clarifiers, flocculants, and polyquat
algaecides should not be dosed to
spa water at the same time as metal
control products. Cloudy water,
precipitation, and reduced product
effectiveness may result. Wait 24
hours between additions.
Pipe Cleanse uses a powerful blend of enzymes to clean
where you can't: inside of spa plumbing. We recommend
cleansing your pipes prior to each time you drain your
hot tub.
2. With spa water temperature at 95°F or higher and the
circulation system running, add entire contents of
bottle to spa water.
3. Run jets for a minimum of 5 minutes.
Note: If foaming becomes excessive, turn jets off. Some
foaming is expected during the pipe cleanse process.
4. Maintain water temperature at 95°F or
higher and allow spa to circulate overnight
with jets off.
5. Drain and rinse/clean out the surfaces of
the spa. Refill the spa water and reinstall
filter elements.
6. Proceed with normal spa maintenance.

Cloudy Water
Cleaning Filter Cartridges
Hot tubs can often experience cloudy water
due to warmer water temperatures and heavy
bather loads.
To help reduce filter problems and optimize circulation,
we recommend cleaning the filter at least once per month.
Clean & Perfect™ is a spray-on cleaner that can be used to
easily clean spa filters.
Natural Chemistry's Clarify™ is designed to
clear cloudy water quickly. It also improves
filtration and can be used as a maintenance.
Simply wet the filter and then spray it thoroughly with
Clean & Perfect. Allow it to sit for at least 15 minutes.
Rinse the filter with fresh water and allow to dry completely
before re-installing.
Standard Dose:
Use 1 oz of Clarify for each 500 gallons of
spa water. No premixing required.
Cloudy Water Dose:
For especially cloudy water, double or triple
the standard dosage. No premixing required.
Clarify can be used with high sanitizer levels
and at the same time as shocking.
Cleaning Spa Surfaces & Covers
Clean & Perfect also works well to remove scum lines
caused by oils, grease, and other non-living organics. It
works great to clean spa covers as well with its easy
spray-on application. When spa has been drained, you
can use Clean & Perfect as a complete spa surface cleaner
prior to refilling. Clean & Perfect also works great to clean
patio furniture, appliances, vinyl siding, RVs, boats and
so much more.
Foaming Water
Due to the circulation and aeration of spa
water combined with lotions and oils,
unsightly foam can form on the water
surface. Use Natural Chemistry's Defoamer
Plus™ to remove and control foam as needed.
This special formula also contains chitosan
clarifier that will help improve filtration
while polishing water.
See product label for detailed instructions
QUICK TIP
Cleaning cartridges with just muriatic acid can set
the oil permanently into the filter material. This can
negatively impact the filter's capability with every
acid cleaning.
