IITA Gives Back: International Research Institute Strengthens Ties with Host Community
Bringing healthcare to the heart of the community, the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) has answered the call of duty and built a state-of-the-art healthcare facility in Idi-Ose, Moniya, Akinyele Local Government. The Institute’s unwavering commitment to its host community has strengthen their bond by delivering essential healthcare services to those who need it most. On 3 March, the healthcare facility was officially commissioned by IITA's former Director General, Nteranya Sanginga, and other distinguished guests.
The Deputy Director General, Corporate Services, Hilde Koper-Limbourg, revealed the history behind the new healthcare facility and how the IITA is constantly providing support to the community in other areas, including road construction and solar-powered street lights. Speaking on behalf of the community, Engr. Olakunle Ajagbe expressed his gratitude to the management team and Dr. Sanginga, adding that the construction of the healthcare facility had strengthened the bond between the community and IITA.
Dr. Sanginga highlighted the importance of community partnership in building a brighter future, emphasizing the need for respect and collaboration. In a bid to reduce unemployment, he also suggested constructing a capacity development center to train young entrepreneurs. IITA hopes to set an example for others to follow in giving back to the community.
