Overview of the Vehicle
The BMW 6 series was first introduced in 1976 to replace the existing E9 model and offered a
stiffer chassis and improved suspension. Originally, the base model 630 CS that built up to the
BMW 650i started out as an entry-level premium coupe with a 3.2-liter engine delivering 167
horsepower- BMW 650
The BMW 6 Series 650i comes with a standard 4.4-liter turbocharged V-8 engine and can seat
up to four people. In 2014, the BMW 650i’s top competitor was the Jaguar XK, but also had
other tough competitors like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class or cabriolet.

The BMW 650i luxury two-door vehicle of the 6 Series continues to compete with other sport
cars like the Jaguar XK, Porsche 911 and Mercedes-Benz SL in 2010. Since 2004, BMW was
still one of the few car manufacturers during the time to offer a manual transmission and an
automatic package in their luxury vehicles. Starting in 2012, the BMW 650i was redesigned with
new features while a 640i model within the 6 Series was created with a turbo inline-six-cylinder
engine.

Starting in 2004, the BMW 6 series was reintroduced to the U.S. market in both convertible and
coupe forms. The new luxury sport 2-doors carried a strong resemblance to BMW’s 5 series
sedans while still carrying the coupe luxury vehicle concept into its reintroduction. Overall, these
luxury two-doors with sporty offerings competed with the Jaguar XK, Mercedes-Benz SL and
Cadillac XLR.
