Challenging The Necessity of Business Ethics and Social Responsibility Among
Corporations
Nowadays, most people think that businesses should not only focus on making profits but also consider the community as a whole in order to make it successful (Wirba, 2023). This is to say that companies must be ethical and responsible in helping the society at large. According to Cezarino et al. (2022) social responsibility as a way of benefiting the community, should not be majored by organizations but focus with its activities to make it successful. This is because not every firm or entrepreneur agrees to aid the community and yet they have their business-related issues. It is therefore important to consider the enterprise first before society issues for it to succeed. In this essay, I will propose the idea that ethics and social responsibility are not essential for a business’ success.
The main goal of a business is profit. As such, it is the major responsibility of an organization to increase profits during its operations. Consequently, this view shows that businesses are generally created to make profits rather than to solve social issues in the society (Dmytriyev et al., 2021). For instance, I will mention Amazon company to be most profitable company in the world. Despite that, it has been criticized for unethical and environmental concerns (Yu et al., 2022). The company makes a lot of profit since customers keep buying their goods, thus proving that the firm can achieve success without considering the society needs. As a result, this shows that as profit remains the main goal, ethical and social responsibility are not necessary for a business to succeed.
In conclusion, business ethics and social responsibilities are not essential factors for a corporation to succeed. It is the profit that entrepreneur works for in a business. Instead of social responsibility, innovators should use the time to establish new ideas and solutions to fix their organizational issues. Company like Amazon have achieved huge profits and stronger growth by focusing on innovation, efficiency and satisfying their customers. Ultimately, it is a strategic idea for a corporation to note that the success of a business is made with the aim of making profits rather than concentrating in ethics and social responsibility in a society.
