4 Ways to Handle Failure Successfully
Life is full of ups and downs. One day you succeed, the next day you fail. Nobody was born a failure; we are all destined to succeed in everything we do. No one is perfect, and therefore, at some point in our lives, we are bound to fail. So what do you do when you fail; when you lose your job, fail in exams or business? How do you handle it? By the end of this article, my prayer is that you will find a way out, and that you will be ready to start afresh.
1. Don’t Take it Personal
Never let failure define you. You are not the first to fail; neither will you be the last. Most of the famous people you know today failed terribly at some point in their lives. For example, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Walt Disney. Learn to separate failure from your identity. Refuse to be enslaved by failure, change your mindset, and start seeing yourself as a successful person.
2. Take Stock
Look back at your life. What you had and what you lost. What led to the failure you are experiencing today? Think of what you can do to change the situation. Bill Gates originally created a product called Traf-O-Data which analyzed data from traffic tapes. The product did not perform, and therefore the company never took off. Gates did not give up, he tried something else. We all know who Bill is right now.
3. Ignore What Other People Say
When you fail, people tend to say a lot of very negative things. Do not listen to them. At a certain point in my life, I lost a business that was doing very well, people talked. I got so depressed; I believed what they said about me. I even got suicidal. It took the help of people who believed in me, to remain sane. Here I am today. You are not what they say you are, you are better than that, and are destined for greater things.
4. Try a Different Way
Steve Jobs, the mastermind of technological innovation and corporate vision, was at one time kicked out of his own company. This was after an unsuccessful product launch. That was way back in 1985. He did not give up, or wallow in self-pity. Instead, he formed another company called NeXT. It was later bought by Apple which was struggling at that time. He was reinstated, after which he developed products like, the iPod, and iPhone, among others. Launching these products gave Apple its breakthrough. You too can try different avenues. You might just get the break you have always desired.
In conclusion, it doesn’t matter what you are going through, what people say or think about your situation. You are a winner destined to succeed and not fail. Choose success no matter what!
