Starting My Online Business
BY GINA ICOMO
Starting an online business is not that easy. You have to make decisions like "what should I
sell?", "what do most people want to purchase?", "what do I need?" or "how will I get
customers?".
Change is constant, so we need to study and research new trends to cope with the industry.
Most of us think that the internet is a get-rich-quickly type of work, but it is hard work.
We all connect with the help of the internet. All of the content we see online has an impact
on all of us. It helps us reach people all over the world. But, when it comes to online
business, we need to know our target market to properly reach out right customers for us
to offer and sell the right product.
You can start by finding a problem to solve. Think of your target market and ways in
which you can help them. For example:
Target market: Working moms with young children who started business recently.
Problem: Most moms find it hard to reach out to people and sell their products.
Solution: Create a time-saving card for their packaging or help them in social media
management.
Months ago, I explored and practiced making content and designs that I could post on my
social media accounts. I enrolled in a freelancing course and started making blogs and
articles to add to my portfolio. Then I thought, "What if I had the confidence to sell my
designs in an online store?". I watched videos on youtube and researched what products
most people need at this time. That's when I started to sell my first template online.
Since the pandemic, I learned to shop online for products I see on social media every day.
Some of my purchases had a "thank you" card which I keep in my cabinet because some of
them have a voucher or discount code for the next purchase, while some have put their
social media accounts so that you can keep posted. Online selling has increased their sales
over the last two years, and most people started to build their own. "Thank you" cards have
been essential to business owners as a way of appreciating their customers and also
reaching out to more people to buy their products.
That's when I decided to make "thank you" card templates and sell them on Etsy. Being an
online shopper, I chose this to help businesses add more life to their products when
delivering them. These cards are personalized as I put your business name and logo, but
optional. You can check my online shop, it's GCIprintsPH on Etsy:

I hope that you can start your own business someday, and I could be of help and be a part
of it as I can make card templates or logos for you!
