To Whom It May Concern
Francisco Belenguer Vicente (born May 9, 1989) worked in GET Lab – Cognitive Systems Engineering − at the University of Paderborn from June 25, 2014 until September 15, 2014 under my supervision as part of the IAESTE internship program (DAAD).
In GET Lab, he developed algorithms to detect different human actions from videos. In this regard, he
firstly got familiar with some low level image processing techniques for feature tracking e.g. SIFT,
SURF and optical flow methods, then he implemented an algorithm utilizing the Farneback dense optical flow for the action detections. In this algorithm pixels of moving objects were tracked for some sequences resulting in thousands of tracks addressed as visual words. The visual words were lately
clustered using the k-mean method to gain a minimal set of visual words describing actions compactly.
Francisco implemented all parts of the algorithm and achieved promising results.
Francisco was an excellent student. He is a quick learner, possesses a natural ability for problem solving, and is capable of working independently. His contribution to our work was very valuable and will
be used for future work. As a person, Francisco is an organized and hardworking student with a pleasant personality. Throughout his work he demonstrated perseverance and initiative.
If I can be of any further assistance or provide you with additional information, please do not hesitate
to contact me.
Sincerely
