Heartiest congratulations to The Malay College Kuala Kangsar team on wining 14 Gold and 30 Silver Medals at The Tournament of Champions of the World Scholar's Cup (WSC) 2018 at Yale University. Heartiest congratulations to Sdr. Amal Azmai (C'02) for being the recipient of Outstanding Young ASEAN-FEN Scientist Award 2018 at International Fisheries Symposium 2018. al-fatihah Sdr. Zaharudddin Alias (C’70), [Mohd Shah House] passed away on the morning of 17 November 2018. He was laid to rest at the Kemensah burial ground in Ampang after Asar prayers. Zahar hailed from Tanjung Ipoh, Negeri Sembilan and joined MCKK in Form 1, 1966. He was one of the stars of his batch, as he was a talented sportsman and popular. He played football and rugby for MCKK, and was the Court Games Captain in the Fifth Form Union. He was made the Deputy Head Prefect in 1972. After MCKK, he read History at University of Malaya. Zahar then did very well in Petronas, moved on to UEM and subsequently to Turnaround Managers and Trenergy, and finally, he and his family ran the Petronas petrol station along Jalan Kolam Air Lama. MCOBs and other friends dropped by his station regularly. Whenever he was there, nasi kandar, roti canai, teh tarik and others were usually on the house. His generosity was genuine and sincere. He was always the ideal host. Zahar continued to excel in rugby after school, played for the University Malaya, Selangor and Malaysia teams. His prowess in football and rugby was legendary. However, his batchmates later found that he could not swim! While not a stage person, Zahar was reasonably knowledgeable in music. Looking back, Zahar was a wonderful, warm, inspiring and caring friend. He had lived a full, happy and deeply satisfying life. He is missed dearly. It is as if those who knew him have not had enough of him. He is survived by his wife Puan Norshimah, daughters Nur Syerina and Nurul Dhania and son, Aman Hadi, four grand-children and a large, closely-knit family. Divided into 2 categories, Full Ironman [3.8km swim, 180km bike, 42km run] and Ironman 70.3 [1.9km swim, 90km bike, 21km run]. The race will take athletes on a truly Malaysian cultural journey through tropical, hilly and demanding terrain passing traditional kampungs, mangrove clusters and rainforest vistas. The ocean swim starts from the picturesque white sandy beach of Pantai Kok. A bike course heads out of Pantai Kok on to a clockwise loop towards the rolling hills of Datai and the fringes of Kuah Town. Athletes will return from the bike course into a unique indoor air conditioned transition at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Center. The running course will be an amazing scenic run beside the Langkawi International Airport towards the finish line at the stunning Pantai Cenang. Fadly Hashim (Fadly - C’96) [Ahmad] 28 November 2018 sports results SAILING KARL (C’66), AMIR (C’74), VYN (C’92) RAJA MUDA SELANGOR INTERNATIONAL REGATTA 17-24 November 2018 Port Klang to Langkawi The Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta is a challenging offshore sailing race and the second oldest regatta in Asia. It consists of three overnight passage races, which start in Port Klang, with stopovers in Pangkor and Penang before reaching Langkawi covering 260 nautical miles, plus 3 days of harbour races in Penang and Langkawi. The event attracts a large variety of yachts, from top class IRC racers to classic cruisers, all of whom have to cope with unpredictable weather and changing tactics during the 9 day mix of races past the tropical islands of the Melaka Straits. This year saw 32 yachts competing in various categories. The prizes were presented by His Highness The Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah at The Royal Langkawi Yacht Club. Datuk Khalilur Rahman Ebrahim’s (Karl - C’66) [holding the trophy] yacht “Janda Baik” won the Jugra Cup, in Class 2, Premier Cruising Class.
