FEARLESS (Episode 1) by Lady Belles-lettrres EXT. AN UNKNOWN PITCH-BLACK AREA A silhouette of A PERSON can be seen holding a sword. They are slowly scouting the area, as if trying to search for something. ??? (Breathing heavily) The sound of growling catches THE PERSON's attention and they turn behind but see nothing. The growling continues until it gets louder and louder. ??? (Breathing becomes even more frantic, whimpering is strangled) Suddenly, a huge monster jumps in front of THE PERSON. They stumble in surprise but quickly regain their footing. THE PERSON wields their sword, ready to attack the monster. ??? (Breathing heavily while growling a little) Tears can be seen flowing out of THE PERSON's eyes and it is clear that they are reluctant to hurt the monster. However, before they can do anything, the monster slashes THE PERSON off-screen. INT. A DARK ROOM TERRY abruptly wakes up and finds himself in an unknown room. He also notices that he is not alone in the room. A blue-haired girl, HOPE, stares at him intently for a few seconds before greeting him. HOPE (Stoic) ...'sup? TERRY glances to his right and left before realising that the girl was referring to him. He then points to himself. TERRY Are you talking to me? HOPE (Sighing, annoyed) Why, of course, genius. I'm facing directly to you. Who else would I've been talking to? HOPE points towards a boy behind her. HOPE (CONT'D) Mr. Black Dot here, right behind me? TERRY (Confused) Mr... Black Dot? TERRY sees a boy in a coat slumped against the wall behind HOPE. He becomes more bewildered with the situation he is in. He immediately gets up to investigate the boy while HOPE keeps her eyes on TERRY. HOPE I tried to get him to talk, but he wouldn't say a word. TERRY examines the boy and is shocked to find him knocked out. TERRY (Dreaded) Hey, he won't respond! TERRY pats the boy's shoulder gently and repeatedly. TERRY (CONT'D) Wake up, man! HOPE (Tries to remain calm, but worry is evident in her voice) Oh, no! Is he...? TERRY checks for the boy's pulse and lets out a breath of relief. TERRY Phew! He's alright. He's alright. He's just unconscious. HOPE shakes her head in reassurance and takes a step away from the two. HOPE Oh, okay. That's great, I guess. TERRY is a bit baffled at HOPE's apathetic response, but decides to brush it off. He lets go of the boy and approaches HOPE. HOPE flinches at this but remains at place. TERRY I believe we haven't introduced ourselves properly yet. TERRY sticks out his hand to HOPE. TERRY (CONT'D) I'm Terry. Nice to meet you! HOPE, crossed-armed, blankly stares at TERRY and then stares at his hand. TERRY raises an eyebrow as he waits for HOPE's response. HOPE (Stoic) Yeah... Nice to meet you too. Silence fills the room for a few seconds before TERRY puts down his hand and continues speaking. TERRY Well... I'm really confused now. When I woke up, I ended up in this mysterious room! TERRY places a hand under his chin as if he's thinking of something. TERRY (CONT'D) Where could we possibly be? TERRY looks at HOPE. TERRY (CONT'D) I get that you ended up in the same situation as I did? Silence once again. TERRY notices that HOPE is becoming uncomfortable, but she replies anyway. HOPE (Sighs) Yeah... I'm confused too. Even my maths homework isn't as confusing as this. HOPE chuckles at her joke and TERRY laughs along with her, albeit awkwardly. TERRY is trying to get HOPE to reveal her name, but she would just keep quiet. He notices that HOPE would look at him suspicously evey time he says something. TERRY sighs and glances back at the unconscious boy. He approaches him again. HOPE Hey, leave him alone. TERRY Calm down. I just wanna check if he's still out. TERRY pokes at the boy two times before his eyes are blown wide open. BERNNY (Screams loudly) This startles both TERRY and HOPE, making them scream along with him. BERNNY (Panting, scared) What the...! Who the Heck are you? BERNNY observes his surroundings frantically. BERNNY (CONT'D) Where am I?! TERRY and HOPE exchange nervous glances. TERRY then clears his throat. TERRY So, you're stuck here too, huh? BERNNY blinks at TERRY a couple of times and dips his head down. BERNNY (Mumbling to himself) Hm... The last thing I remembered was seeing a cat. BERNNY gets up and brushes his coat. TERRY Nice to meet you! I'm Terry. TERRY turns to HOPE and gestures to her. TERRY (CONT'D) This is... um... HOPE (Reluctantly) Hope. It's Hope. BERNNY Oh, hi. BERNNY shakes TERRY's hand and tries to do the same to HOPE. HOPE, instead, pulls her hand away. BERNNY I'm Bernny. And I like cats. BERNNY eyes TERRY and HOPE suspiciously. BERNNY (CONT'D) Do you like cats? TERRY Oh. Yeah! I like cats too. How about you, Hope? HOPE (Monotonic) Huh? HOPE shrugs. HOPE (CONT'D) Cats are cute, I guess. TERRY walks to the middle of the room. He almost bumps into HOPE who gets a bit dazed, but regains her footing. TERRY Alright, guys. I know that we've just met each other, but now we have to work together to find out what's going on here! BERNNY There's not much use thinking, though. If the three of us don't know anything, then, we're not gonna get any answers. BERNNY proceeds to sit back down and lean on the wall. He closes his eyes and rests his head on his arms. BERNNY I'm just gonna rest here. Peacefully like a cat. HOPE (Irritated) Oh, just great. Am I really stuck in a room with two clueless guys for the rest of my life? HOPE spreads out her arms. HOPE (CONT'D) (Sarcastic) Maybe we should do some sort of ritual and an exit will appear out of nowhere! Suddenly, a disembodied voice speaks out and startles the three of them. ANNOUNCER (Through a speaker) You have reached your destination. A door appears on the wall behind HOPE. She slowly turns around to face it. TERRY I don't believe it... BERNNY gets up and slowly walks to the door with his jaw dropped. TERRY follows suit. HOPE Hey! Where are you guys going? And why is it suddenly so bright? BERNNY and TERRY come across a short staircase and walk down it. HOPE leans on the wall in the room, not wanting to follow them. HOPE (Mumbling to herself) Good riddance. Now I can finally be alone and safe. After a while, HOPE finds the room to be too quiet and eerie. She continue to stay in the room, but it makes her anxious. She immediately runs after the boys and accidentally bumps into the ledge of the door. HOPE OW! Hey, wait up! EXT. A VALLEY OF TULIPS HOPE walks down the stairs and tries to observe her surroundings. They are in a field of beautiful yellow tulips. BERNNY plucks a tulip and sniffs it. HOPE Where are we? TERRY I have no idea, but this place is beautiful! BERNNY (Mumbling to himself) I wonder if there are any cats here... EMMA (Shouting) H-hey, there! The trio turn their heads to a girl not far from them. It turns out that they were on a train. Several other people get out from the train. Two girls approach them. EMMA (CONT'D) Going somewhere? The trio look at the girl confusedly and then at the other girl next to her. ADIVA waves happily at them. ADIVA (Happy mumbling) TERRY Uh, hi there? It seems that you're a passenger on that train? EMMA nods her head. EMMA Yes. The both of us. God, I hated that room. It was filled with spiders! EMMA tilts her head to the side. EMMA (CONT'D) Aren't you guys passengers too? TERRY Yeah, I guess so. But we have no ideaHOPE interrupts and shoves TERRY away. HOPE Let's just cut to the chase. Who are you? Where the Heck are we? Why were we in a train? WHY are we even here in the first place? EMMA whimpers at HOPE's intimidation. ADIVA rubs EMMA's back to soothe her. ADIVA (Mumbles angrily) TERRY nudges HOPE's side. HOPE rolls her eyes in response. TERRY I'm sorry if Hope scared you. She's just confused right now. Just like the rest of us. Small tears can be seen flowing down EMMA's eyes. She wipes them with her sleeve and takes a deep breath. EMMA We're just as confused as you. Which was why we decided to approach you and find out if you could help us. BERNNY taps TERRY's shoulder and points towards something in the distance. BERNNY I see something. What's that building over there? TERRY and the rest look towards where BERNNY is pointing. TERRY Wow. That building looks magnificent. HOPE I agree. What could it be? TERRY Lets go find out! TERRY gestures to EMMA and ADIVA to come with them. TERRY (CONT'D) C'mon! Let's go! Let's go! HOPE Hold on a second! We just met them. How can we trust them if we don't even know them. HOPE furrows her eyebrows and glares at EMMA and BERNNY (who she mistakes for ADIVA). EMMA takes a step behind. HOPE (CONT'D) (Suspicious) What if these girls backstab us on the way? BERNNY Um... I'm not a girl. HOPE squints her eyes and realises that it's BERNNY. HOPE Sorry 'bout that. But, hey, I can't trust you either, Mr Black Dot! HOPE turns to TERRY, glaring at him too. HOPE (CONT'D) Heck, I can't trust you either, Mr-What's-Your-Name! I can't trust any of you! HOPE tries to run away, but BERNNY manages to grab her arm, preventing her from running. HOPE (Yelling) LET GO OF ME! TERRY Calm down, Hope! Everything's alright. HOPE (Screaming her lungs out) NOTHING'S ALRIGHT! You don't understand! HOPE thrashes her arms, but BERNNY is stronger than her. She finally drops down to the floor, exasperated. HOPE (Sobbing) Look. Just leave me alone, okay? TERRY We're not gonna leave you, Hope. It's true that we've just met, but you're a part of our team now. Everyone here is lost in this new world, so we need to stick together. EMMA He's right. We HAVE to stick together! Even if we're simply strangers to each other. EMMA stares at the empty field behind her. EMMA Who knows what lies out there? Proabably nothing... Probably harmless things. EMMA's eyes darken. EMMA (CONT'D) Probably dangerous things... EMMA gulps. EMMA (CONT'D) Like giant spiders...! HOPE dips her head down for a few seconds and slowly gets up. HOPE O-okay. But if any of you guys do anything suspicious. I'll bolt outta here. TERRY smiles and pats HOPE's shoulder, earning a flich from her. TERRY I don't know what happened to you, Hope, but we'll never harm you. We just wanna find out what's going on. ADIVA shakes EMMA and points to the other passengers. ADIVA (Mumbles) EMMA She's right. The other passengers are going to the building. We should make haste! EXT. A DIRT ROAD TO THE HUGE BUILDING TERRY Hey, we haven't gotten your names yet. EMMA I'm Emma. EMMA wraps an arm around ADIVA. EMMA (CONT'D) Unfortunately, I'm not so sure what's this girl's name since she can't talk. But she's really friendly! ADIVA (Mumbles happily) TERRY (Cheerful) Hello! HOPE (Groans) How much further is the building? I can feel my legs turning to jelly from walking down this road for eternity! TERRY Have some hope, Hope. We're almost there! HOPE (Grumbling) You've said that three times already... A boy crashes into HOPE and then runs off. HOPE (CONT'D) (Yelling) Watch it, Tubbo! HOPE balls up her hands into fists and starts stomping on the ground. EMMA (Stutteting, nervous) L-let's not g-get angry again. Cheer up. The building's not far ahead. EXT. AREA OUTSIDE FEARLESS ACADEMY The trio and their new friends behold the sight of the building in awe. The dirt road gradually becomes a stone-paved path. The wild grass are cute neatly at the area around the building. They also notice that the building is surrounded by steel fence. TERRY (Breathless) It's... amazing. They approach the building and go through the opened gates. EMMA This place looks like some sort of school. JULIAN (Off-screen) It IS a school. TERRY and company turn to the side and see a blonde boy, JULIAN. JULIAN salutes them. JULIAN (Cheerful) Welcome to FEARLESS Academy! We're honoured to have you here! HOPE (Exasperated) SCHOOL? Seriously? We dragged ourselves all the way to a dang school? No way am I staying here! I've had enough of classes! JULIAN Oh, no! It's not what you think. FEARLESS Academy is different than your average school. It's waaaaay more exciting! JULIAN gestures to the assembly hall. JULIAN (CONT'D) Freshmen are ordered to gather up in the hall. The Principal is about to give a speech. And then, she's going to show you around the school. HOPE Hold up! We never said that we would enrol in this school! JULIAN gives a cheeky,toothy grin. JULIAN We know that. But gather up anyway. You'll change your mind about it. TERRY and friends give each other unsure looks. HOPE is about to protest but TERRY interrupts. TERRY This academy sounds interesting. We'd love to enrol! JULIAN That's great! I'll probably meet you in another class. HOPE glares at TERRY as they walk to the assembly hall. HOPE (Angry) Why did you say that? TERRY C'mon, Hope! It's not like we had a choice. This place is our only lead to find out what happened to us. EMMA Not to mention that the boy said that this academy is unique from a normal school. EMMA smiles. EMMA (CONT'D) Now I'm curious to find out more about FEARLESS Academy! HOPE That's a pretty dumb name for a school... EMMA Well, I think it sounds awesome! I wonder what we'll get to learn here. TERRY takes a glimpse at the aseembly hall ahead. TERRY (CONT'D) Only one way to find out! INT. FEARLESS ACADEMY ASSEMBLY HALL A woman with an eyepatch, CHARLIE, can be seen standing on the stage, holding a microphone and speaks into it. CHARLIE Good morning, students! Welcome all young, old... and slightly weird. Welcome to FEARLESS Academy! I'm your principal, Charlotte Strong, but you can call me Charlie. You may be asking yourselves, "What is this place? Why am I here?" CHARLIE clicks her tongue. CHARLIE (CONT'D) I'll answer those questions for you! FEARLESS Academy is a place where you learn to face your biggest fears. CHARLIE takes out a stone from her pocket. CHARLIE (CONT'D) Are you one who is afraid of the littlest things? Don't worry! With lots of intensive trainig with us at this academy, CHARLIE crushes the stone to pieces in her hand, earning murmur of approval by some of the students. CHARLIE (CONT'D) You'll be strong enough to face it, physically and mentally! The students start to become excited and noisy. DAVID, a teacher at the academy, gives a loud 'shush' to keep them quiet. CHARLIE (CONT'D) You'll also get to find your inner power as you train. Scene cuts to TERRY, HOPE and BERNNY. TERRY looks at his hands. TERRY (Curious) Inner power? We have that? HOPE Shh! She's still talking. Scene cuts back to CHARLIE on the stage. CHARLIE But you have to remember that great power comes with great responsibility. Scene cuts to FEARLESS studetns figthing against monsters using their powers and weapons. CHARLIE (CONT'D) (Off-screen, serious) There are a lot of dangerous creatures out there. You need to use your inner power to protect yourselves, your friends and FEARLESS Academy from these creatures. These monster may be well your greatest fears. Scene cuts back to CHARLIE. CHARLIE (CONT'D) (Dark) If you don't learn to control your powers, there could be serious consenquences... CHARLIE furrows her eyebrows. CHARLIE (CONT'D) (Serious) You could get severely hurt... You could get hypnotised by your enemies to join the dark side... You could lose your life in battle... Or worse, YOU would become the enemy. The whole hall becomes silent. Suddenly, CHARLIE lets out a hearty laugh, startling TERRY, HOPE and BERNNY. CHARLIE (CONT'D) That's what the teachers are here for! To guide and train you so you can channel your powers properly and face your fears! CHARLIE sticks her arm out. CHARLIE (CONT'D) Now... Let's take a look around the school! INT. A LONG HALLWAY OF CLASSROOMS CHARLIE is in front of a bunch of students, leading the way. CHARLIE As you can see here, these are the classrooms for various subjects! Each classroom is shown briefly with students in the rooms, learning. The teachers (sans DAVID) are teaching. CHARLIE (CONT'D) We have English, maths, scienceCHARLIE comes across a classroom which is empty. CHARLIE (CONT'D) -and history. History class is dismissed for the moment as the history teacher, David, is with us now. CHARLIE points to DAVID at the back of the group of students. DAVID waves coyly. Scene cuts to TERRY, HOPE and BERNNY in the middle of the group. HOPE whispers to TERRY. HOPE (Whispering, annoyed) How interesting. I thought this school was supposed to be unique. And yet, they have boring old classes like any other school. TERRY (Whispering) The tour hasn't finish yet. We should wait and see if they have anything else in store. They both look back at CHARLIE. CHARLIE You must be thinking, "What! I thought this school was supposed to be unique. And yet, they have boring old classes like any other school." HOPE (Flabbergasted, but still whispering) She can read minds?! CHARLIE (Chuckles) These classes are just the tip of the iceberg. What you are actually gonna learn is THIS. CHARLIE leads the group to another block nearby. She opens a huge wooden door, revealing students training their powers. The students exclaim in astonishment at one female student who unleashes a ginormous wolf made of fire. HOPE (Wonderstruck) Wow. Just wow! BERNNY (Amazed) That's...so...cool. TERRY (Excited) I can't believe that we are going to learn that! So AWESOME! CHARLIE gives a wide beam, showing shiny white teeth. CHARLIE What did I say? FEARLESS Academy is not your run-of-the-mill educational institution. We have a lot to offer! Another training student starts to float up in the air, moving objects around him with his mind. CHARLIE (CONT'D) Of course, training your abilities takes place in the noon 'till evening after your normal subjects. Can't neglect mathematics, am I right? CHARLIE chuckles when she notices some students roll their eyes at her statement. A pink-haired girl summons vines that start growing and winding themselves on dummies that resembled monsters. CHARLIE (CONT'D) By the way, for ability training, I'm the one who'll be teaching you. TERRY (Enthusiastic) Wow, really? The Principal is just as awesome as she looks! CHARLIE However, before you can start training, you will be assigned to your dorms according to groups. CHARLIE gestures DAVID to come in front and he does so. CHARLIE (CONT'D) David will handle that. I hope that you're more familiar with the school now. Enjoy your stay here. Heh. I KNOW that you will! CHARLIE punches the air. CHARLIE (CONT'D) Be FEARLESS!! INT. TERRY, HOPE AND BERNNY'S DORM The trio open the door to their dorm and enter the room. TERRY examines the dorm and is satisfied with the room. HOPE adjusts her new glasses that were given by CHARLIE. TERRY Ain't too shabby! BERNNY Yeah. It looks really cosy. HOPE (Happy) These glasses are amazing! I can see everything clearly now! HOPE takes a look around the dorm with her new glasses. She becomes excited as her vision is clear now. HOPE (CONT'D) I can finally see you guys properly. And Bernny, you're not a black dot anymore! BERNNY Oh, so that's why you keep calling me that... TERRY I didn't know you needed glasses, Hope. Are you short or far-sighted? HOPE (Sad) Well... I... It's worse than that. I had an accident when I was little and it made me near blind. I thought that I would never see things clearly again. Heck, sometimes I was scared that my vision would become pitch-black. TERRY (Sympathetic) Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. HOPE It's fine. I'm really grateful that Charlie gave me these glasses. It's clear that she wants the best for her students, and I feel guilty for making fun of this school... HOPE walks to her bed and flops herself on it. HOPE (CONT'D) I still can't believe it though. It's like this is all just a dream. It's way too weird and wonderful to be real. TERRY I feel the same way. Everything seems too good to be true. Then again, I can't seem to wake up. So it must be real! BERNNY If this turns out to be a dream, I never want to wake up. TERRY proceeds to lie down on his bed across HOPE's. TERRY An academy that helps us to find our inner power and face our fears, huh? HOPE (Haughty) Ha. I'm not scared of anything! BERNNY I have my own greatest fear. BERNNY shudders a bit. BERNNY (CONT'D) I'd hate to be in that situation. TERRY Don't worry, Bernny. As Charlie said, with enough training, we'll be able to channel our inner powers and face our fears! TERRY stares at the ceiling, determination welling up in his chest. TERRY (CONT'D) FEARLESS Academy. What exciting adventures will lie ahead? I'm totally ready for it! END
