I. Introduction
A. About this Section
This section forms Part 3 of the Quality Manual.
The original Quality Manual is divided into two parts only (Part 1 and Part 2). Part 1 is correlated and/or referenced to
the Quality Management System sections of ISO 9001.
Part 1 contains:
Quality Policy and Objectives;
Requirements and general policies Plantation Operations with regards to maintaining high standards for
quality;
Specific information and references pertaining to procedures or activities comprising the Quality
Management System to ensure compliance to the necessary requirements of the standard.
Part 2 contains the following documented information required in ISO 9001:
Mandatory Documented Procedures as required by the standard; and
Management Review Procedure
But with the new version, ISO 9001:2015, it is the intent of this section (Part 3) to define how the company complies
with the new requirements of the Standard.
B. Quality Management Principles
The Organization has adopted and realizes the benefits of Quality Management Principles into our daily activities.
The intent of the Quality Management Principles is to provide a foundation to continually improve upon the
Company’s performance. Subsequent sections of the QMS Manual will provide our commitments of the following
Quality Management Principles:
customer focus;
leadership;
communications and the engagement of our people;
process approach;
improvement;
risk & opportunity as well as evidence-based decision making;
relationship management

II. Process Approach
The company has adopted the “Process Approach” or PDCA cycle into our daily operations. We have considered the
utilization of Risk-Based Thinking Philosophy when developing, implementing, and improving the effectiveness of our
Quality Management System and as well as in the process. This approach will enable the company to enhance its
overall performance by effectively controlling the interrelationships and the interdependencies among the QMS
processes.
The process approach can be applied to all processes and to the quality management system as a whole. This can
be illustrated in the following figure:
The implementation of the “Process Approach” in our QMS enables:
the understanding and consistency with achieving customer specific requirements;
the consideration of our processes in terms of added value;
the achievement of effective process performance;
improvement of our processes based on the evaluation of data and information.

III. Risk Based Thinking
The implementation of risk-based thinking is an essential tool for achieving and maintaining an effective QMS and is
being considered from the beginning and throughout. The company effectively plans and implements various actions
to address risks and opportunities to maximize the outcomes including, but not limited to achieving improved results
and preventing negative effects of our products, services and QMS.
The company has established a corporate-wide risk management program that aims to provide a structured basis for
proactively managing political, environmental, socio-cultural, economic, legal, financial, operational and technological
risks in all levels of the organization. These risks and strategies are being discussed at the following venues:
OPCOM (attended by COO and Group Heads) - Quarterly
Mindanao Operation’s Conference (attended by the CEO, COO, OPCOM, Group Heads, Sr. Managers,
Managers and Supervisors) – Annually
OGSM Review (Objectives, Goal, Strategies and Measures – attended by Group Heads, Sr. Managers,
Managers and Supervisors) – Annually
The Audit and Risk Board Committee (ARC) is responsible for the monitoring and review of the corporate-wide risk
management and determine whether these are adequate and effectively implemented. The Risk Management Team
of each department in Plantation (composed of Department Head/ Manager and Key Supervisors) documents their
respective Risk Management Plan (F-QMS-025) - aligned to the corporate-wide risk management program.
In addition to the Risk Management Plan are the Risk Assessments required by GLOBALGAP for food safety,
worker’s safety, food fraud, food defense and site management.
IV. Context of the Organization
A. Understanding the Organization and its Context
Del Monte Philippines, Inc. (DMPI) is an agro-industrial company based in Mindanao. The company was
established in the Philippines on January 11, 1926. Its corporate existence was renewed for another 50 years
