Dear Sir Below is an abstract for the reviewed paper on family law in Nigeria: ABSTRACT The family is unarguably the smallest unit and the most important building block of every society. Over the years, the definition of marriage and family has undergone radical modifications, to accommodate such relations as single-parent households, blended and same-sex unions, domestic partnerships and so forth. As a heterogenous nation with diverse ethnic groups and religious inclinations, Nigeria still faces her own share of the multi-headed hydra of challenges bedeviling marriage and family structure universally. This monograph forensically x-rays the development of family law in Nigeria, attempts an illumination of the concept and types of marriage applicable in Nigeria in line with existing regulatory framework; analyzes the family law and justice system, all in relation to other jurisdictions, and makes relevant recommendations to limitations identified therein.
