The truth demands our attention: “Lawmakers, Lobbyists and the Administration Join Forces to Overhaul the Endangered Species Act”
Endangered species is one of the readings which I like reading about since I love nature. The problem being addressed or being argued here is that the Endangered Species Act, which has been on under attack for the last 45 years which has safeguarded fragile wildlife while blocking ranching, logging and oil drilling on habitats which are protected. The attack of this act is from the lawmakers, the white house and industry on a given scale which has not been witnessed in decades, which is driven in given percentage of fear of the republicans losing ground in the elections of midterm elections of November.
In the last few weeks, there have more than two dozens of pieces of legislation, policy initiatives as well as amendments which are designed in weakening the law which have been either introduced or voted on in the congress or proposed by the administration of Trump. This has been triggered by the claims by oil drilling companies and farmers which own some portion of these habits where the endangered species live that this weakens the economy, and that it is wastage of resources and money to pay the firms which are involvement in maintaining this habitats.
The legislators are on the lookout in weakening the act so that the land where the resources which needs to mined can take place despite the fact that the species are said to be near extinction in future decades if not well protected. Despite the fact the management of these habits to be costly is good for the environment. However, if the resources bestowed in these habitats are utilized well once mined will be major boost to the economy, the legislators argue that it needs to be weakened to provide a balance for the two claims from both sides of the agitators.
I believe the argument within the article is health and needs to be embarked on while balancing both sides of the arguments of preserving the endangered species as well as utilizing the resources which are within these habitats. The question which the reader is left with is whether, the weakening of the Act will deprive the endangered species protection which has been before since the Act was signed to be a law? What is the motive of the legislators behind weakening of this act? And what impact will the weakening of the Act have to the overall economy of United States of America and to the environment? These are questions which need to be answered before the weakening of the Act of the legislators is considered.
There are oppositions which i expected to resurface from these argument that the environment for the endangered species need to be prioritized in terms of protection as compared to the benefits which will result from the resources which are within these habitats. Additionally, there might arise politicking of the arguments which might come up during the debates in the congress later. The conclusion of the article brings about a neutral argument about how the law needs to be balance for the benefit of the American people and while preserving the endangered species. The article has persuaded my opinion that there is the need for the lawmakers to strike a balance which will endangered that the endangered species are protected as well as the resources in these habits benefit the American people.
