 My Views on Mass Media Fanessa Monee Sellers SOC105 Society and the Media Professor Julie Doar-Sinkfield January 21, 2019 My Views on Mass Media My experience with television has always been positive since my childhood because the mass media platform has provided me the opportunity to share cultural experiences and the primary catalyst for enhancing my reading and comprehension capabilities. In this regard, my perspective is that the adaption of my children books by the producers of the television made it easier for me to understand them in the classroom. While parents might not realize it during the period, the various children television programs that I was exposed during my early childhood years played a significant role in my educational development and growth in several aspects of my life. The positive experiences that I derived from watching hours of TV as a teenager continued into adulthood and can be considered as the main reason why I prefer to watch news programs to obtain information on issues that affect our lives in different ways. Although some aspects of television as a mass media platform can be negative, I prefer to focus on the positive ones because of their role in the development of the viewpoints that have helped in various endeavors and issues that could have affected me psychologically and physically. Therefore, my emphasis on news and current affairs programs on television is due to my experience and the opportunities that I have derived from this form of mass media for several years. In summary, my reflection on the impacts of television on my life is that it is one of the tools that helped me understand the importance of many events in history.
