Since their advent in 1962, LEDs or Light Emitting Diodes have become an integral part of our life. LED are generally thought to be just about reducing power consumption, but they have also been used to beautify buildings along with various other structures. Using LEDs also improves the ambiance of a place by leaps and bounds.
Decorating Fountains
In earlier days, various statues and carved features were used to decorate fountains. Today fountains nearly all around the world use LEDs to decorate fountains and use them as a complement to their original aesthetic appeal. These fountains can also make use of synchronized lighting to provide people with a breath catching spectacle. Also, companies around the world tend to have well maintained and decorated fountains as a part of their building’s architecture and plan.
At Pudisec, we believe that innovating advanced Pudisc Fountain Equipment which would last longer and supplying them all around the world to our clients as our primary goal. We take great pride about being part of this creative and challenging endeavour of decorating fountains.
Pudisc- Bright Since 2008
Pudisc is a leading global supplier of LEDs that are tailor-made to decorate fountains. Designing such types of LED’s offer a unique challenge since they are continuously exposed to water. As its commitment towards developing world-class products, Pudisc’s Research and design team has adopted the IP68 standards as the benchmark while innovating new products (IP refers to the same as the Ingress protection marking or International Protection Marking).
Why IP68?
The IP68 is a standard which is used to rate an appliance’s resistance to dust and water set by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission). Though most of the devices or appliances are waterproof, all of them can never stay underwater for an extended period of time. So, the IEC has devised testing guidelines to be certified for a certain IP code.
The first digit gives us information about its resistance to dust particles (which ranges from 1 to 6), while second provides us the depth up to which a given appliance will function (ranging from 0 to 8). Thus, making IP68 which we use as the highest possible standard that is possible to comply among all that are currently being followed in the industry.
IP codes for water depth
Code 0 No Protection from water
Code 1 Protected from Dripping water
Code 2 Protected from Dripping water when tilted at 15 degrees
Code 3 Protected from Spraying water
Code 4 Protected from Splashing of water
Code 5 Protected from Water jets
Code 6 Protected from Powerful jet
Code 7 Protected from Immersion up to one meter
Code 8 Protected from Immersion with a depth of more than one meter
(Used by Pudisec)
IP68 is, therefore, is the most suitable for LED lights at a fountain because unlike other electronic appliances they have maximum possible exposure to water while being in use. The criteria of IP68 make it possible for Pudisec’s fountain equipment to function even at depths of more than one meter. Thus, making them an excellent choice to decorate fountains.
With the major issue of water being taken care of, the remaining is all about the choice of appropriate colors and their timing sequence.
