The St. Bridget Jubilee!
Ma. Janina Santos
6 – Madasalin
1966 saw the beginning of a small, humble center of learning- which now stands as a proud educational institution for bright minds and Christ-centered hearts. It’s been 50 solid years and our school, St. Bridget, has stood the test of time and for that we celebrate.
February 5, 6 and 7 were days of Jubilation for St. Bridget School, Quezon City as we celebrated our 50th anniversary. The first day, a Friday, opened with a community mass which invited guests, faculty, staff and intermediate and high school students to attend.
The mass had a special atmosphere, given that the Sisters from the Good Shepard convent were also in attendance; while the Handog Club, Pastol Club and the Young Voices participated to make it feel truly important. After the mass the Jubilee marker was unveiled and blessed by Fr. Raniel Nachima SVD. This took place at the Plaza beside the SME statue and was witnessed by various attendees such as the students, parents and guest, the most notable of which were:
RGS Provincial Superior Sr. Regina,
SBS Coordinator Sr. Loreen Granada
SBS School head Sr. Catalina Santos
SBS Principal Ms. Gina Cruz
SBS Parents Council President Mr. Balmori
SBS Alumnae Association Representative

After the blessing, the attendees watched as the primary students came together to create the 50 formation that they had been practicing.
After the primary students’ formation, the high school students then had their “Industry-Based Career Fair”. In this event, former Brigetines shared their expertise in their choses fields/careers with the present students. One of the speakers, Ms. Rhodora Dizon, had flown all the way from Australia to share her knowledge about “Mind Mapping & Study Techniques”.
February 6, the second day of the celebration, saw our students exploring the school grounds, enjoying themselves with the booths, rides and games that were prepared by their schoolmates. A sympathetic shout out to those caught in the jail booth- you will be missed!
The second day continued on with a school presentation for the viewing pleasure of both students and guests which was shown in the auditorium. Selected students from the primary, intermediate and high school division participated with presentations, as well as some student clubs such as the:
Dulaang Kabataan (DK)
Band Club
High School Dance Club
Rose Virginie Theater and Dance Company
During this presentation a video was also presented by the Pixels (and a make-up tutorial by Ms. Belle Cruz.)
A mass was held during the last day of the celebration, and after which, a recognition ceremony was held to recognize those who had given significant contributions to the St. Bridgets School, QC community. Among those recognized and given plaques of appreciation were retired employees, a few parents and Mang Tom.
After the Recognition Ceremony, the new student hall was given its new name after Miss Rosario Borja.
The celebration closed with a BINGO game which was prepared by the Parents Council and a Motorcade that took place the Sunday after, which passed by the following areas:
Project 2, 3, 4
Marikina District
Sto Niño, San Roque, Calumpang
The celebration may have ended, but we will always be proud of how far we have come as an institution, and we can certainly look forward to the decades to come.
To close, here is a message from the school for all those who had celebrated with us:
Thank you to all who were there to share the celebration with us. To all the RGS Sisters, the school faculty, staff, personnel, the students and their families, the Parents Council Board, and the Alumni Association, Thank you! To all the alumni who dropped by, it was a joy to see you again.
Despite the rain on the second day, every one had a wonderful time!
