AWANDU
This is to confirm that Mr. Christopher Apollo Awandu ID. No- worked at
National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) as a County Project Coordinator from
October 2017 to December 2021 in the Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities
Project (KYEOP).
Christopher was in charge of Kisumu County and later was transferred to Mandera
County where he oversaw the implementation of World Bank Funded Kenya Youth
Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP) whose objective was to increase
employment and earning opportunities for the targeted youth. NITA implemented
component 1 of the project which addressed skills mismatch among the youth by
offering Job Specific Skills Training followed by internship both in the Formal and
Informal sector.
His duties included the following:
a) Sensitization, selection, recruitment, placement and follow up of interested
beneficiary youth. Sensitization and recruitment of training providers both in
formal and informal sectors and providing support to them.
b) Monitoring and evaluation of all training and internship project activities in
the respective county.
c) Planning and coordinating meetings and seminars with various stakeholders;
including government implementing agencies, employer’s meetings, and
beneficiary youth orientation meetings.
d) Support the Project Implementation Unit in coordinating the application
process for each respective project cycle.
e) Support to the Project Operations Manager with regards to financial
management, preparation of annual work plans and reports, and stipends
respective counties
f) Data management, continuous input, and update of beneficiaries and training
provider’s information on the Management Information System (MIS)
g) Supporting the training and internship specialist in the continuous processing
and facilitation of skills assessment for the beneficiary youth
h) Employment tracking of engaged/employed beneficiary youth to document
successes of the project among other duties.
During this period, Christopher was committed to meeting the set targets with
commendable honesty, diligence, reliability and dedication to duty. He displayed
excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills. He was a great team
player and was able to multitask with attention to detail.
