I honestly think school should be free for everyone. School should not have a price tag on it, I know students personally that were dropped from their classes, kicked out of their dorm rooms, and kicked out of school because they could not pay their tuition. At this point only the most fortunate percentage of students can learn and expand their education with no stress or worry about tuition. Of course, there are academic scholarships and programs that pay for education like financial aid. Do not get me wrong, these programs are great but to me we have only solved a percentage of the problems at hand. What about the students that are currently going through tough life situations and obstacles that are blocking them from obtaining or keeping financial aid or scholarships? What of the unfortunate student who has gotten sick or just cannot focus and needs more support and more chances to be taken on them and on their education? With my experience as though financial aid is resourceful but the expectation and boundaries that they have in place to take away your financial aid I feel is unrealistic and cold. I feel as though if you qualify for the money, a failing grade should not disqualify you qualify for the money. Your money should not be under review to be taken away under any circumstances. Going through sickness while taking six classes has been an experience of mine. One day being able to handle it all to the next day not being able to concentrate on anything is what I remember. I failed my classes because of anxiety attacks and did not have the capacity or focus to get help to get back into school around that time and I also lost my financial aid. Not only do I think school should be free, but I also think that as students we should have more attention from teachers, advisers, and counselors when we are struggling in school or have failed classes.
I think school should be free because it takes a lot of the stress off our shoulders, and it makes life easier for the student. Instead of spending our money on school and education we could be saving and doing other things with the money we earn, that will elevate us in life. For example, spending money on things like credit buildings, saving for a home, paying off vehicles and things of that nature. Having the funds to pay for things that matter creates a life of elevation. Building actual lives while building careers. It honestly creates a boost for us the people. School should be free because when things are free it gives more opportunity to others. Free school takes away the excuse of having to pay or not being able to afford school. To me I feel like free opportunity equals a stronger success rate in people and in their hearts, it just makes life a better place when good things that we need to succeed things that we need to elevate our education is practically handed to us for the taking without the extra hoops, obstacles, and stress. As someone who has experienced working a full-time job and going to school it was very tough so, not only do I have to keep my grades up, but I must do all my shifts at work and participate in all else that life has to offer. Being free school takes off one of those stressful factors and makes it a lighter situation for us to handle as people.
I read the opinions of people on students having to pay for school on the Top Ten .com website. So, in my own words I read that we as students must pay for school because it goes towards paychecks for our teachers and staff at the school and if we want education, we must pay for it just like anything else in life. That is highly offensive and ignorant. Are we really carrying responsibility that does not belong to us? Shouldn’t the government be paying for every teacher every counselor, every principal, every custodian, every lunch lady, and everyone else who works in the school system because as the head of the country and head of a state they should be responsible for setting the people up for success? The educators and the students of the country should have the right and be valuable enough in the eyes of the government to go through being educated and educating and focusing on becoming their career choice to make the world a better place. Becoming better doctors, lawyers, teachers etc. It should be taken seriously not only by the student but the teacher but anyone else who is evolved.
I also read that it teaches us as students and as adults the meaning and the responsibility behind money in life. To be completely honest we have enough things in life teaching us about responsibility, money, and the economy like rent, children, and grocery shopping. School should not be a lesson of economic responsibility on top of having to perform in the class, the only thing we should be focusing on in school is our classes. School is a challenge to each student. You must learn new things, memorize material, expand your mindset, and be invested. Being mentally prepared, focused, and aware requires energy, so going into school with economic responsibility should not even be a question or a thought for us students. As I continued my research, I could not really find anything on google about the pros and advantages of paying tuition because paying for school is just not a pro to anyone anywhere.
Just imagine going to school to be a doctor, having to put in work for years or going to be a lawyer and having to work to pay for your way of living and pay for your high-class education. One word “absurd”! This Country should care more about the people who are trying to make a future for themselves and make the world a better place finding and paving their way into society. A major part of taking the stress load off our backs would be removing the economic responsibility of school out of this already complicated equation. Finally, the people should be given third and fourth chances when it comes to school because we all evolve, we all change we all realize what is important eventually and losing financial aid is just not a part of forgiving and setting the student up for success no matter what the transcripts look like. Instead of taking financial aid I feel as though the money should be multiplied into tutoring classes that will boost and help the student with whatever their struggle is in. We all have different situations in life, and we all go through different things and have different thought processes. If a person has a strong need to go to school, they should not have anything blocking them or getting in their way school should be a free and open process.
