The inception of Madison City can be traced back to 8129, a time when James Duane Doty, a former federal judge, bought more than 1000 acres of land located between lakes Mendota and Monona. He bought the land purposely to build a city on it. Madison which also goes by a nickname Mad City, is the county seat of Dane County and happens to be the capital of Wisconsin State.
