3 Ways to Bring Your Home Alive with A Fantastic
Sculpture
So...you just came from back from a road show or found a gem at a local yard sale. Now comes
the hard part where in the world do you put this so you can have it really bring your home alive?
Here are 3 areas in which I will go into more detail
1. Factor in the size of the sculpture
2. Understand the flow of your home
3. Factor in the lighting
Factor in the Size of the Sculpture
Most likely you got something 1 foot to 2 feet and trying to find the best place to put it so it really
ties the room together but not be obnoxious and have a “look at me” plastered all over it. Think
bookshelves, end tables, Wall Shelves, etc..
Ok so you went big for this piece, you got something 3-6 feet and it’s more lifelike than
everything else. Well unless you are setting up a haunted house don’t put it in a dark corner
staring at your guests uncomfortably. You either want a dedicated room for this piece or put it in
a spot that is not in a common area and will not have a ton of traffic, more on this later
Understand the Flow of Your Home
If you are someone who always entertain guests take into a factor where everyone goes or
stays for your sculpture. Putting a nice piece of artwork in a guest bathroom or bedroom is not
a good idea. A dedicated room can be best, but bookshelves work great because people will
always look to see what you read (Well I hope you ACTUALLY read those books).
Also make sure it’s not in an area where people might be congregating (AKA drinking) and is in
danger of being knocked over and broken.
Factor in the Lighting
Ok so now you have the size and flow of your home in order the final touch is the lighting.
Naturally you want it to be exposed to natural sunlight. Near windows can be the best bet.
Natural sunlight can accentuate the piece and make it stand out in the room, like it’s supposed
to be on display.
If this is not possible try to have dedicated lights or near lamps or other fixtures. It really makes
it feel like an actual art gallery manager came in and decorated your home.
These 3 factors should help your home look like your local gallery and have all guests
impressed and you feel like a million bucks.
