4 Interesting Ways To Drink More Water
The Cheat Code to Drink More Water: 3 Interesting Ways
Drink more water! Drink more water!
How many times do you think you must have heard that statement in your life?
I bet at least a million times.
It’s something that we’ve all been taught to do ever since, well, we probably started
consuming liquids as an infant.
Along with that we’ve also learnt how important it is for our body to drink water and how
beneficial it is for our health and well-being.
We can’t blame our elders for telling us though, because water is in fact one of the most
important means of our survival, let alone health! You can probably live for a few days or
weeks without food, but you cannot survive without water for more than 3 days or let’s give
it 5 days. But that’s it.
So let’s not drag on the importance of water anymore now, because that’s a given.
But how many of you actually keep up with the required amount of water in a day?
I’m guessing not many of you. I for instance am definitely guilty of cutting down on water,
because let’s face it, we all know we need it, but the idea of having to carry around a bottle
of water is not very convenient. Plus, when you have so many other tastier thirst quenching
options, water gets left behind.
So here is a cheat code of 3 interesting ways in which you can manage to include more
water in your diet:
Spicy food
Having spicy food will leave you craving for more water than usual for sure. It’s also good
enough if you can add a touch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce (my favourite) or even chilli
flakes to whatever you are having. There’s an advantage for this technique too. Several
studies show that spicy food can also boost your metabolism and improve satiety, both of
which in turn help to reduce weight.
Flavoured water
You can either buy flavoured water in retail or you can also add natural favour to your water
with lemon, ginger, lime etc. They have their own benefits as well. For instance, ginger
water or ginger tea is good to ease digestive discomforts, as well as to relieve sinus
pressure. It is also effective against a sore throat and cold. Boiling fresh ginger root in water,
will give you ginger water. It’s as simple as that.
Another way you can add flavour is by adding ice cubes of frozen citrus fruits like lemon.
Water infused food
By this I mean foods that have naturally high water content, mostly fruits. The evergreen
watermelon is 92% water based and strawberries are also 92% water. In vegetables,
zucchinis, radishes and celery, all contain up to 95% water. Apart from these, other fruits
and veggies that have high water content are cucumbers, tomatoes, cauliflower, grapes,
pineapples, oranges, cranberries etc.
I would say this is by far the easiest way to drink more water.
Apart from all of these, you need to also make a conscious decision to drink more water and
believe in it. Reinforce it time and again by doing simple things like putting a bottle of water
right beside your bed.
I’m sure once we make it a habit, we won’t have a problem maintaining it.
