I was at a party, when a young man came up to me… ‘Hi. I’ve never met you…Are you a friend of the owner of the house?...What’s your name?’ ‘Bernard Levine’ I replied. ‘I don’t believe it’ Aubrey exclaimed ‘Are you the Bernard Levine?’ Aubrey suddenly reached into his pocket and pulled put a worn folded piece of paper….’Did you write these words?... he began to shake and stutter ‘I mean, did you really write The Secrets of Life?’ ‘Yes, those are my words’ I answered very surprised. ‘Will you please be my friend? I live by your words…it’s what I believe and it’s a huge part of my life! By the way, what are you doing on Sunday morning? I’d like to show you what I do…I’m sure you’ll be very interested…Can we meet at 6am? ….Where do you live? I’ll come and fetch you….we can go in my car?’ It was a hot summer morning…the windows in Aubrey’s car were open wide letting in a welcome breeze. We arrived at a park and Aubrey stopped his car at a busshelter. There were 3 hobos, or should I say tramps, dressed like you usually find them with old torn dirty clothes and ruffled hair. Aubrey called out to them: ‘Hey there…Isn’t it a beautiful morning…I’m sure you are all very hungry…why don’t you get into the car and I’ll take you for a good breakfast?’ They just looked at us and then looked away. There was no response from the 3 hobos… Aubrey drove around the park and stopped his car at another busshelter…there was one hobo lying down on the hard wooden bench. Aubrey greeted the hobo ‘What a lovely morning this is…I want to give you a good breakfast….some good food…come let’s go…get into my car!’ This time, Aubrey had succeeded. The hobo opened the door and got into Aubrey’s car and we drove to Aubrey’s home. When we arrived, Aubrey handed the hobo a new bar of soap, a bath-towel, a bottle of shampoo, a tube of toothpaste with a toothbrush as well as a comb and a razor. ‘There’s the bathroom…while you are getting all cleaned up, my friend Bernard and I will be preparing breakfast….come to the dining room when you are ready!’ I was very surprised…. ‘Aubrey, how can you let a total stranger that you picked up on the road be alone in your bathroom? What if he goes into your bedroom and steals something? You don’t even know him!.....and what about the possibility of catching a disease? You’ve given him your towel and soap without even knowing if he’s suffering from anything?’ Aubrey just laughed ‘There is nothing that God cannot heal and with regard to stealing, don’t you know that God sees everything anyway.’ After a short while, I couldn’t believe my eyes to see the hobo looking like a new man, hair neatly combed and clean-shaven. We all went to the dining room to enjoy a wonderful 5 star breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, fried tomato, toast, jam, and coffee. ‘What’s your name? Aubrey asked the hobo. ‘Were you ever married? Do you have children? What did you do before you became a tramp? The hobo told us that his name was William…he was a medical doctor, had been married before and had 3 daughters. ‘Why did you give up practicing medicine to live your life on the streets? Aubrey asked. You could hear a pin drop…for a few moments there was complete silence, then William replied: ‘You see my wife and daughters all died in an horrific plane crash….I decided ‘why do I have to work if I don’t have those whom I love to come home to?….so I closed the door of my house and walked away only with the clothes I was wearing to find a place to sleep outside.’ Aubrey and I were deeply moved and speechless. Then Aubrey broke the silence and said ‘Come on…let’s all go to the lounge and listen to some music.’ ‘What kind of music do you like, William? I’ve got Beethoven and the Beatles or maybe you like Bob Dylan?’ We were listening to the Shadows playing ‘Apache’, when Aubrey looked at William and asked the most vital question of the day: ‘William, wouldn’t you like to get back into society, with a new wife, and live in your own comfortable home?’ William took a while to answer. ‘No! I’m not interested…definitely not! I would rather carry on as I am, living on the street….take me back to the bus shelter where you found me.’ We drove back to the park and said ‘goodbye’ to William. ‘Every morning, over the past 3 years’, Aubrey told me ‘I have been searching for hobos to bring to my home for a meal.’ And every time, at the end of the meal Aubrey would ask the hobo the same question ‘Wouldn’t you like to get back into society, with a job, and live in a house with a wife and perhaps some children?’ ‘I have been blessed to have had 3 hobos who accepted my offer to come back into society, and they now have new lives, all working with good jobs, comfortable homes and adoring families’. I asked Aubrey, ‘How did you get it right to arrange to do all these amazing things for the hobos?’ Aubrey smiled ‘It was all so easy…all I did was I took them to the Salvation Army who provided them with accommodation and meals, as well as helped them to get jobs….then through friends and colleagues they were introduced to their wives.’ What a wonderful man Aubrey is, with a heart for humanity…he’s made such a big impact on my life. SENT BY GOD I was in a supermarket pushing a trolley, doing my weekly grocery shopping when suddenly a woman, dressed in a long black dress, came up behind me and began shouting at me: ‘Why have you stopped praising God?’ I ignored her and just kept on walking, looking at my grocery list what to buy next. ‘Hey you! I’m talking to you! Why have you stopped praising God?’ She would not leave me alone and kept on following me and carried on repeating ‘Why have you stopped praising God?’ I was angry. ‘Listen here…you don’t know me…you are a total stranger to me…you don’t know what I do…how can you say that I have stopped praising God?’ She answered: ‘I’ve been sent by God to give you a message… Do you know why you are out of work, why you don’t have a job and things are not going well for you? The reason your life is a mess is that you have stopped praising God! And because of this, you see the angels of God have now stopped working for you. I want you to get back, my friend and continue praising God with all your heart and you will see the messengers of God will be helping and working for you.’ The stranger in black dress with long sleeves walked away and disappeared in the crowd of shoppers. I thought about what she had said… Yes, it was all true what she had said…I had to do something about the way my life was going. I listened and followed her advice …and things started changing for the better with huge unexplained miracles happening, as I began to thank and offer God praise. Walking in the Power of God The Bible is the only book where the Author is present every time we read it! Faith is like electricity...it is there all the time and its force and power work! When you pray, God sends angels. Get out of begging and into the praising position. You need God's Word every day to feed you. Every breath is a miracle. Be thankful for each day God gives you. Don't miss the many opportunities you have to lay up for yourself treasures in heaven. Keep your eyes on God's power and your heart on His love. God searches our hearts to see just how much we really love Him! Remember...God's mighty power is only a prayer away! You Hold the Key Let your determination be so strong that nothing can sway its course. Let your mind believe so intensely that your dreams become reality. Let your actions be rich with enthusiasm that it moves the hearts of all. Let your life be filled with greater purpose To reach Higher To think bigger To love deeper than you've ever done before! Give God Joy The most beautiful eyes in the universe watches over us with passionate love The most powerful hands that there is protects us with awesome strength and care The kindest heart you will ever find flows with boundless grace and forgiveness There’s so much tenderness in God’s Spirit There’s so much giving in God’s nature When we look for a true friend, God’s compassion is always there for us When we need deliverance, God’s help is so mighty The most valuable treasure in the whole world is that Jesus loves you Give God joy in praise and appreciation for all His wonderful gifts. Heaven Is Full of Praise Look at God’s strength holding the universe in His hand Feel God’s kindness giving life to everyone Think of God’s knowledge about all of creation Experience God’s ways of purity and holiness. Give praise to the heart of God for all the blessings we receive each day Thank God for His boundless grace and amazing patience Be moved by God’s radiance and everlasting beauty Take pleasure in all that God has made and everything He can do See the world through His eyes. Oh, how awesome it must be to hear the choirs in heaven singing praise with joy and passion. If we could only realize and appreciate how truly great God is we would spend every possible moment adoring Him. What's the most beautiful place you have ever seen? I am captivated by the magnificence of the sea, and I love walking through a lush green forest. There's something very special about a pretty colourful garden of flowers and trees and to be amongst majestic towering mountains and refreshing streams. Now, imagine how beautiful heaven must be.... Heaven is full of love.....and kindness.....and praise! Dear Friend I just had to write this to you…. I’ve just got to tell you something important…. I know things for you haven’t been easy…you’ve been through a lot….you’ve been deeply hurt….your pain is intense ….you’ve been wondering why your life has been through so much trouble….so much frustration…so many tests, trials and hardship. You’ve been let down ….you’ve been disappointed time and time again….you’ve given up hope and just don’t care anymore…. I just want to tell you that in all this….God is here God has seen every tear that you have cried….God has felt your pain and knows what you are going through…God really wants to help you ….He is there….but you have to first turn the key….you have to open the door wide. When a heart is broken….when a life is in ruin….it’s not easy to pick up the pieces and start all over again….but you have to!....there’s no other way up!....you have to let go!....it’s a brand new season….it’s the start of a new day….I know you just can’t forget what has happened…… but you have to make a new life for yourself….you have to get out of the river and walk over to the mountain….there is help ….and there is hope. The Hand of God Things are now going to change for you….life is going to start getting better….you’re now on your way to a new beginning….tell me, what do you want out of life?....what are your deepest dreams that you want to see come true?.....what is very important to you?.....what do you value the most? Life isn’t just a straight line….it’s got curves, bends, ups and downs….you’ve had a lot of down-time for too long now…..it’s now time for you to rise up….you know all the beauty that once was in your heart….it can still be found if you search deep within….you know what’s true and you know your feelings…the dreams and wishes you have that you want to see come true….but how is this all going to happen for you?....how do you make a lemon into a lemonade?....how do you find the way to a more richer fulfilment? THE POWER OF ALMIGHTY GOD Please don’t look to man for the answers….you will be disappointed….please don’t try to find the solution all by yourself….our ways are so limited and we are very fragile and weak….but there is a God who is here with almighty power, and all the know-how in the world, together with all the ability, divine intervention and strength to change each and everything in your life all for the better. If God could make water come out of a rock for Moses….then it’s easy for God to make a miracle in your life all in an instant. If God could create a man out of just dust….then surely God can bring about exciting wonderful changes in your life. You are a child of God What do you have to do to see your miracle take place? What should you do to start a new life?….to make things better?…. to bring blessings, gifts and wonders come your way? All you’ve got to do is ask God?....but maybe you already have done this and nothing has happened….why did your requests not come to pass?....did you ask God for greed or for need? The wisdom of Solomon Let’s look at King Solomon… what did he ask God for?.....he didn’t ask for things of this world like a mansion, palace or castle filled with lots of gold and treasure …..all Solomon asked God for was for wisdom …..but God looked at his heart and saw that his heart was pure….God gave him knowledge and wisdom together with understanding ….because Solomon didn’t look for selfgain and did not ask for worldly greed but Solomon asked for spiritual blessings and needs….God was so moved by Solomon’s request that God gave him wisdom plus on top of that, God enriched his life with treasure in such great abundance! The Greatest Power in the World When you come to God you are coming to a King….not just any King….but the King of the Universe, Creator of everything. Yes, God is your Father and you are His beloved child, but God is holy, upright and pure…God is so beautiful ….our minds just cannot conceive, think or imagine how magnificent, how glorious, how amazing and how brilliant is our God….there are no words which we know that can describe God’s loveliness, His awesomeness, His splendour! Before you look at your needs and all the things that you want from God…..let’s look at what God wants from us. What is God looking for? What pleases God?....God wants recognition…God wants acceptance….God wants our appreciation….God wants our love….God wants a relationship with us....God wants us to get to know Him….but How? By reading and studying God’s Word we find out what God likes…. Tell God you love Him…let God know that there is nothing in your life more vital, more necessary or more important than Him! Even the little things Don’t take God for granted…thank God for even the little things….did you ever say thank you to God for water?....where would we be without water? …..thank God for the streams, rivers, waterfalls, the oceans, the springs and the rain ….how about saying thank you to God for sand?....that’s right, I’m being serious, without the soil, the earth….without the ground ….we won’t have food….there would not be vegetables or fruit ….nor flowers, nor trees and grass! Don’t come to God every day with the same boring prayer!....get yourself a book and write down the things that you need to say ‘thank you’ to God for….you’ve got to move God’s heart….you’ve got to touch God by showing Him that you are grateful for even the tiny little things in your life. Thank God for the gift of air….for the breath of life….thank God that He has given mankind the ability to think and create inventions to make our lives easier and more enjoyable…inventions like the fridge, the computer, electricity. God just doesn't want lip service....you must truly believe and feel it in your heart for what you are thanking Him for. Don’t be lazy and just say ‘thank you God for everything’…..No! You must be specific!....you must tell God which blessings, gifts or miracles you are grateful for. Why is it so important to say thank you to God? Imagine that you are a child and on Monday you come to your father and ask him for money for clothing….without hesitation, he gives this to you….then on Tuesday, you come again and ask for more money to go out and have a good time with your friends….and again he lovingly gives this to you….and a few days later, you ask your father again for something that you want….How does your father feel? ….every time you ask for something, but he never hears you say ‘thank you’….your father begins to feel that you are always demanding more and more without showing appreciation. It’s the same with God…He is our Father and we are His children….God is not a shopping mall or a money bank….you can’t just come to Him and expect Him to give you what you want without ever thanking Him for all the many, exceptional and wonderful gifts and blessings He has already given you….Thank you God that I can walk, stand, sit….thank you God for sleep, for rest, for peace…Thank you God for the beautiful gift of colours….for the stars….for the seasons….for the gift of music…for all the different types and varieties of flowers….for herbs and vitamins….Thank you Father God for Jesus…. Every day, take time to thank God for different specific gifts and blessings in your life …..for things that you have never thanked Him for before. Start a ‘I’m grateful for list'…. Look at all the amazing wonders of nature….marvel at the miracle of your brain….the precious gift of your eyes….your living skin. Your life will have a deep inner fulfilment and take on a new meaning….you will realize that God is truly good and God wants to bless you more and more….and when you show God that you do not take Him for granted and all that He has already given you….all that He has already done….like all the times He has protected you….and for all the days He has loved you ….for His patience…for His forgiveness and grace…. When you show God that you are grateful even for the small things in your life….when your heart is filled with appreciation and praise, you will always be rewarded with mighty miracles. You have the power of choice and the gift of prayer to change the circumstances and situations in your life….when God looks at your heart, will He see gratitude? SHOW YOUR LOVE TO GOD TO GOD BE THE GLORY To have a deep hunger for God and love Him as much as we can To delight ourselves in the study of His Word To put Jesus first in our lives and worship God with praise and joy To humble ourselves before His throne and give to God the highest honour, respect and glory Always. The Beauty of God’s Love God is amazing He chooses every baby's DNA and blood type He puts every star in place to float in the sky He creates every fingerprint with a rare design He makes an egg to burst open with life. God is great He selects all the love-songs for every bird to sing He makes broken bones mend He gives every flower its specific perfume He cares for seeds and they turn to fruit. God is awesome He tells the seasons when to change He gives us air so we can breathe He feeds multitudes of living organisms on our planet He waters fields of green carpets with morning dew. Every leaf is a marvel of God's genius Every baby is filled with God's love There is nothing in this world more precious than the beautiful kindness of God. A Beautiful Gift for God When you sacrifice something to give to the needy When you teach a child how to pray When you go out of your way to help a stranger It's a beautiful gift for God. When you speak God's Words and bring light on the world When you heal the heart of the suffering When you show kindness to those hurting How wonderful and precious that moment is. When you bring hope into someone's life When you bless the poor with your love When you make God your number 1 You bring joy into heaven. Strangers, Orphans and Widows When the widow needed some food she had to first give the flour and oil that she had then God did a mighty miracle. When Jesus was asked to feed 5000 people a young boy had to first bring his 5 loaves and 2 fishes then God performed a mighty miracle. God is greatly moved by your faith and the sowing of your seed First be a doer of the Word and fulfil your part Give money to strangers, orphans and widows and you will have guaranteed success. When you obey Psalm 41 and your heart is filled with God's love you will experience mighty miracles and abundant blessings. The Greatness of Jesus The most influential life ever to have lived on this earth The greatest love this world has known The central fulfilment of hundreds of Bible prophecies The leading key figure of humanity Jesus is unique He walked on water He raised the dead He opened blind eyes He brought us eternal life Only through His blood can we be pardoned Only through His name can we receive God's power Only through His life can we find victory Lord Jesus We love and worship you. Thank You Jesus There's no other friend so true and so faithful There's no other love so precious, so dear There's no other joy so rich and fulfilling There's no other grace so kind and so rare There's no other one who has done more for the world than Jesus. Secrets of Love Make your love one feel special every day. Do not allow your lives to become routine prepare lots of different activities to enjoy. Never take your loved one for granted. Keep your love forever precious, sacred and beautiful. What you put into your love is what you will get out of your love. Enrich your lives with prayer. Always be your partner's best friend. Make time everyday to separate yourself away from the world to love God. Be committed to your major goal with singleness of purpose. Feed your mind daily with good positive healthy energy. God Is Your Partner All David had was just 5 stones and a sling and God gave him the victory All the boy had was only 5 loaves and 2 fishes and God used this to feed 5000 All Moses could speak was with a stuttering tongue and God chose him to free his people God can use whatever you may have When you pray with all your heart your prayers become miracles When you sow seeds of praise your love for God will be greatly rewarded When you make God your priority your life will have deep fulfilment. Your Miracle Is About to Begin When God wanted a woman to give birth to His son He didn't choose a prominent girl but God found favour in an ordinary woman called Mary. When God needed a new king for Israel He could have chosen someone distinguished but God chose an ordinary shepherd boy called David. When Jesus chose His 12 disciples He didn't choose men who were well educated but Jesus took ordinary men willing to follow Him. God takes ordinary people and performs mighty miracles All you have to do is love God with all your heart Give God abundant praise and appreciation and very soon you will see your miracle begin. AWESOME LOVE To go to the ends of the world to help a stranger To give someone incredible kindness they will never forget To treat animals and all of nature with respect and compassion These are the things that give life true purpose. To value your special uniqueness as a beautiful child of God To elevate your mind with the higher value of integrity To upgrade your living environment planting seeds to enrich the soul To give a child caring devotion so they feel they are loved To rise above your circumstances with faith in the power of God And with the purity of healing love in your heart your life will know no boundaries. Jesus Loves You You are a child of God Surround yourself with things that make you happy Seek out people who uplift and encourage you Live in harmony with the gifts of nature Find 3 things to thank God for each day. Give the world kindness and watch miracles begin Deliver love and watch hearts glow Change someone’s life with the power of prayer Celebrate God’s goodness with an adoring heart Sing joyfully to the God who loves you Follow your heart and be true to yourself Let your life become a beautiful gift to God Passionately praise Jesus. My secret was discovered 'Where's Bernard?' my Uncle asked my Dad...doesn't he want some cake and a cold-drink? 'There he is, at the pool, reading a book'. 'Bernard, what book are you reading?' 'Uncle, I'm reading the Bible and reading all about Jesus' 'What! Does your father know what you are reading?' 'I want you to get yourself off my property...right now...immediately...I'll get your father to take you home...I will not have anyone reading about Jesus on my property!' My family does not want to know me because I believe in Jesus. You see, I was brought up in the Jewish faith and Jewish people are not allowed to read the New Testament and they do not believe in Jesus. Because of this, the Jewish people do not celebrate Christmas or Easter...instead they celebrate the Holy Days recorded in the Old Testament like Passover, Day of Atonement and the Festival of First Fruits. MY MOTHER WAS THE ONLY CHILD OF RABBI KESSLER, WHO ORIGINALLY CAME FROM POLAND. At the age of 13, according to the Jewish custom, I had my Barmitzvah (coming of age for a Jewish boy). At school, the Jewish children left the class-room whenever we had Bible Studies...the Jewish boys usually played soccer until we were all called in back to class for the next subject. I started reading about Jesus at the age of 14 and was immediately attracted by the purity of His words overflowing with love. My dad passed away and at my father's funeral, the officiating Rabbi came up to me and asked me to pray a certain specific prayer for my father. I told the Rabbi that I was willing to do so, but that I would have to pray 'in the name of Jesus'. The Rabbi said that this could not be allowed so my Dad's brother said that he would recite the prayer. His daughter then shouted out loudly: 'You a traitor to the Jewish nation!' After the funeral, no one wanted to associate themselves with me and everyone just walked away and left without saying a word to me. I WAS TOO SCARED TO GO TO CHURCH The first time I went to Church, was when I was in my forties. I was too scared to let the Jewish people know I believed in Jesus. I was also confused and never knew which Church to go to...I couldn't understand why there were so many different Christian Churches and what the difference was between them all...I heard some the names of the Churches like Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Protestant, 7th Day Adventist, etc but it all seemed so strange to me. I read about a Bible Correspondence Course and began receiving the lessons and submitting my answers that were marked and corrected. My Christian book library started growing rapidly and I loved learning all I could know about Jesus. The beautiful gift of Jesus I feel very privileged and blessed that I was chosen to discover the absolute truth about Jesus...that Jesus really is the Son of God and that He gave his life to suffer and die for my sins....and that He is coming back as my Messiah. I am so very, very grateful for all that Jesus has done for me. I thank Jesus everyday for His immense love, kindness and grace. THERE IS NOTHING IN THIS WORLD, OR THAT ANYONE CAN OFFER ME, THAT IS BETTER THAN JESUS.
