Hi there, my name is Grace, and I am the co-founder, owner, and creator of Filipino Virtual Assistance and allow me to encourage you today to embrace self-education because it is the fastest route towards success. Earlier, we saw the person that used to be collecting garbage in our old neighborhood. He would go from one house to the other in our old community and would get trash from different houses and would bring it to the city designated area so the city dump trucks could come in and bring it to the city dump. Nothing wrong about the things that he’s doing. He’s decent and he has a family that he’s supporting, and everything is well, however, it was a little surprising to me that this person was still doing this after 5 years. This means that this person did not add value to himself. Why? Because it is through adding value that we become more competitive, and we can earn more, and we can have more opportunities in becoming more successful. This would happen if you would embrace selfeducation. Because learning means more income. This would happen if we would go and achieve or embrace a specialized education. Going through a generalized education would mean that you’re also doing what everyone’s doing, and the demand is very low. In comparison, if you’re doing something that only a few of you are able to render, your demand is high thus, competitiveness is also high and your goals and your dream of becoming successful would be faster than those of the generalized education. It would mean that those in the office setting can probably be working at Php 300 per day while you with a specialized education can probably get it at Php 300 per hour at least because I know that there are freelancers that are being paid at $8, $10, $20, $25 per hour. So, it’s important that you add value to yourself in order to be competitive thus, you need to embrace self-education in order to have a change of mindset, to have the blueprint on how it is being done. Others are learning it for 4 years, others are learning it for 10 years and somebody can share to you and you’re learning it in a month or two or probably just weeks. And you don’t only have the mindset, the blueprint but the ways how you can implement it. Others are probably learning Web Design and Social Media and the whole aspect of Digital Marketing in the school setting for 6 months and that’s a generalized type of education. But somebody can teach it to you when it comes to a specialized education in 2 hours or 3 hours or 6 hours and you’re able to implement it right away. Those are actionable steps, actionable learnings that you can render and impact clients or businesses. When it comes to self-education, you can do the following 5 steps or 5 avenues where you can educate yourself: 1.Getting a coach or getting a mentor because that coach has probably experienced 10 years, 20 years of what you’re going through and that person can give all the tips and the techniques to you in just a month or two and you’re set to go. 2. Watching video lessons. You go ahead and educate yourself. Be a student of the things that you’re interested. There are videos in YouTube, in Vimeo, there are free courses, you can also enroll in paid courses. You can empower yourself and educate yourself through video lessons as well. 3. Listening to podcasts. There are also free podcasts like Social Media Safari, Tony Robbins, John Maxwell. You can go and follow these people and get the very things that they learn, and you can learn those as well and apply and start implementing them. 4. Another one is what I call the Leaning Feed. So when you follow certain hashtags, certain communities, certain people, what they’re posting can empower you. The quotes there, the tips there, it can empower you instead of you binge watching or instead of you minding other people’s business, why don’t you go ahead and follow certain hashtags. Why don’t you go ahead and follow certain people and certain communities that would empower you instead? 5. And then lastly, when it comes to the 5 ways where you can educate yourself is attending seminars and workshops. You go and get certificates from this. You go and have hands on training so you’re empowering yourself because again, with these 5 steps- getting a coach, watching video lessons, listening to podcasts, learning feeds, and seminars and workshops, it will give you the right self-education, it will give you a specialized education that will make you add more value to yourself and competitiveness to your niche so you will be able to have success in a faster route as well.
