Parks, through her own courageous actions in refusing to give up her bus seat in 1955, not only sparked the civil rights movement but also became a symbol of resistance against racial segregation in the United States. Living as a model for others begins with personal integrity and authenticity. Mahatma Gandhi exemplified this principle during India's struggle for independence in the early 20th century.
