5 Healthy Spices for Baby's Food
The weaning period is usually draining especially to first-time moms. The little person's unwillingness to let go of the breast juice can be overwhelming. Babies should be introduced to solid foods after six months of life regardless of whether they are on formula or exclusive breastfeeding. Let’s look at five spices that will make your baby love food.
1. Cilantro
Cilantro, also known as coriander will not only add flavor but will have a great health impact on your baby. Cilantro's ability to reduce anxiety and improve sleep will rid you of those ugly eye dark circles. Mom and baby will finally have a good night’s sleep. Coriander is ideal for stomach upsets. Weaning comes with gas build-up and constipation. A little cilantro will sort this out. Pediatricians recommend use of cilantro from eight months.
2. Ground Cinnamon
Infant cereal can be bland. A pinch of cinnamon will bring life into the cereal. The earthy taste will be baby's new gem. This baby –friendly spice is known as a cure to a sensitive stomach. Ensure you add a little cinnamon to baby's food and observe any allergic reactions. Anything unusual should be reported to the pediatrician immediately.
3. Turmeric
The rich yellow rhizome is full of health benefits for little ones. Its color will attract the curious little eyes. Add it into purees in small amounts and watch your baby gobble the meal. Turmeric is known to improve bowel movement and to improve digestion. It is great for the liver.
4. Cumin
Cumin is a member of the parsley family. The cumin seeds are safe and healthy for babies. With benefits such as immunity boost, detoxifying, and anti-bacterial properties, cumin is a must-have spice in your baby's diet.
5. Mint
The cooling effect of mint will add a fun flavor to your baby's purees and natural yogurt. Peppermint added to water or juice will brighten up baby's day. Mint fights stomach bacteria, relieves indigestion, and fights cancer.
