 Edmonton supports American Protestors Amidst Feud between Donald Trump and The media Edmonton, Canada stood in solidarity with protestors from the US following the inauguration of the new president of the United States, Donald Trump. Trump travelled to Langley, Virginia to deliver his inauguration speech amidst worldwide protests. Michelle Brewer said that it is important to stand and support the protests .Over 200,000 people gathered in Alberta Legislature on Saturday for a sister march. According to http://www.reddit.com/r/news , at least six journalists are facing felony charges for covering the protests around Trump’s inauguration. The arrests have been met with opposition from the National Lawyers’ Guild and the police have been accused of unlawful use of teargas and indiscriminate arrest of people based on location alone. Maggie Ellinger of the National Lawyers’ termed the arrests as acts to mute the protestors. The allegations of what the journalists and over 200 other people are not clear. Trump has accused the media of preventing him from enjoying the White House in his first weekend as president. Trump said that the media is ‘lying’ about his inauguration ceremony attendance. According to an anonymous source who spoke to Trump after his inauguration, Trump called the media ‘The most dishonest human beings on Earth.’ This was after reports of an attendance of only 250,000 people in his inauguration ceremony .Trump made claims that there were millions of people and the National Mall area was packed.” We had a massive field of people”, said Trump. According to the Joint Congressional Committee, about 250,000 tickets were distributed for the Virginia ceremony. ”They showed a field where there was practically nobody standing there” Trump complained. Donald said that the media showed an empty field just to spite him. He said that he had expected the media to be more lenient on him after his inauguration but things have gotten worse. Sean Spicer, the White House Press Secretary dismissed the attendance figures as baseless. He accused the media of demoralizing the president with negative coverage. Spicer claimed that there is a plot to undercut Trump’s enormous support. According to the Washington post’s report, trump was not pleased with Spicer’s response. He thought it was not fierce enough. In his inauguration speech, Trump spent about 10 minutes of his speech complaining about the media.
