WHAT IS CHASE MOBILE APP?
Chase has recently updated their free mobile app for Android and, as a Chase banking customer, I opened the app on my Android phone as soon as I heard about it. What I found is a much more aesthetic application than the previous version with a clearer display and a new navigation bar. The only problem I have with the Chase Mobile application is that the keyboard covers the password area, making the connection a little weird. I will not be surprised if this is corrected soon.
After Download Chase Mobile and login, all Chase Mobile accounts are presented individually with the current balance and with an option to check accounts to pay bills and an option to pay for loans and credit cards. Tap the Chase logo at the top left to open the navigation menu where you can access the accounts and features of the app.
FEATURES OF CHASE APP
Deposit checks: Take a picture of a check and enter the amount to use with Chase QuickDeposit to instantly deposit the check into your chequeen account or savings account.
Transfer money: Transfer money between your Chase Mobile accounts, for example, you can transfer money from your savings account to your checking account.
Paying bills: This requires a subscription to Chase Online Bill Pay, a feature you have set up on Chase.com before you can use it with the app.
Chase QuickPay: You can pay anyone from your Chase Mobile account if you have their email address or mobile number. The recipient must have a Chase QuickPay account or they can create one when they receive your payment.
Bank Transfer: Transfer money to or from non-Chase accounts.
Another section, Connect with Chase, offers options to search for an ATM or branch, contact Chase, alerts, a message center, FAQs, legal guidelines (privacy policy) and sign out. The FAQ contains answers to all the questions you may have about the application.
GET ACCOUNT ALERTS AND MESSAGES
You can receive alerts on your Android mobile device for any of your Chase Mobile accounts. To do this, tap Alerts in the navigation menu under Connect with Chase. Then tap Manage alerts. Tap on the account for which you want to set up an alert, then choose among overdraft alerts, when the balance is below a certain amount ($ 300 is the default, but you can change it), a deposit in line has been received, a payment received. An Overdraft Protection Advance has been made or your balance is not sufficient to cover checks or payments. Other options are available for credit card accounts.
The Secure Message Center option is for Chase Mobile messages. If you have a message, you will see a number next to Secure Message Center. For me, this number included the messages that I marked as read on the online banking site as well as new messages, but the number was adjusted after using the mobile message center.
CHASE MOBILE APP SECURITY
The application uses strong 128-bit encryption for all data, and messages are sent encrypted from Chase. They are then decrypted by the application on your phone. I mentioned earlier that you will need to request a PIN code to use the app for the first time. That's part of Chase's multifactor authentication, another security measure. The Chase Mobile app does not store any of your financial or personal data on your phone, and other apps cannot access it.
HOW TO START USING THE CHASE MOBILE APP
You must be registered with Chase Online to use the mobile app. If you do not have an online bank account configured for your Chase Mobile accounts, go to Chase.com and click the Sign in or Sign Up tab at the top of the screen. Once you have an online account, use the same username and password to log in. The first time you use the app, you specify which Chase accounts you want to use with the app and you will receive instructions for requesting a PIN code by phone, SMS, or email. You must use this PIN to log in through the application the first time you use it.
The app will disconnect you automatically if you do not use it for 12 minutes. This is for security purposes if you forget to log out and leave your mobile device where someone can use it.
