: Proposal for Solar Hybrid System for Energy Saving
:Monday, December 18, 2017
Dear Sir,
Many thanks for taking the time out to share your Request for proposal for solar power
generation. As per your desire please find attached a proposal based on a 5.5kW solar
hybrid system and retrofitting cost of new LED lights which is being put in place of old
technology compact (CFLs) and fluorescent (FTLs) lights. The scope of work includes supply,
installation & commissioning of requested solar PV system and recommended lights.
We sincerely hope that the said mentioned proposal matches your requirements and is
competitive enough to catch your kind attention.
We look forward for your positive response.Let the Solar pay your electricity bill!

2. Energy Audit Findings:
Bulk illumination is provided by Compact fluorescent lamps and Fluorescent Tube Lights
(FTLs)
CFLs: Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) were the most used luminary in the filling station
contributing 74% of the total luminary load. CFL use a tube which is curved or folded to fit
into the space of an incandescent bulb and a compact electronic ballast in the base of the
lamp. These are not so much energy efficient as the new LED technology is gradually taking
over as it is a higher lumen to watt ratio and therefore it is more energy efficient.
The newer LED Panels come in round, square and rectangular shapes and in different sizes
and power denominations to suit every situation. The best part is that their prices have also
dropped significantly so as to be affordable by almost everyone.
FTLs: Fluorescent Tube Lights (FTL’s) contributed to 26% of the total luminary load. FTLs are
a low pressure mercury vapor gas-discharge lamp that use fluorescence to produce visible
light. As compared to other luminaries installed in filling station, FTLs have the lowest
lumens to watt ratio and therefore they are the least energy efficient. FTLs contributing
such a significant amount to the luminary load is an area which requires attention as there is
a lot of energy conservation potential in it specially in fascia lights.
Graphical representation of total installed lamps and luminary quantities vs total load has
been shared below.

2.1 Retrofitting Cost and Return of Investment:
As mentioned in the previous section, most common luminary used in terms of load were
Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) and Fluorescent Tube Lights (FTLs). They should be
replaced by a more advanced LED technology which is significantly more efficient.
As a result, such a wide scale usage of old technology luminaries is not recommended during
the peak. However, to keep the budget under control it should be replaced with following
below mentioned lights highlighted in table.

Overall Luminaries Savings:
After calculating load of all the old installed luminaries, it has been noted that
there is a lot of saving potential in terms of kilowatthours against the
replacement of FTLs and CFLs with new technology led lights. A brief summary
of current installed luminaries load against recommended led lights has been
highlighted in terms of tabulated and graphical representation.
