HOW TO LEARN A LANGUAGE?
Language learning is quite a controversial thing. For some people it is an easy,
every-day thing: they remember words and phrases easily and begin to use them
immediately; but for the others, it is a hard work, that seems to be exhausting
and ungrateful.
Well, how can we make the learning simple and easy, so that one could start to
speak a language in 3-4 months?
1. First things first: STOP LEARNING WORDS FROM YOUR NOTEBOOK.
Reading the foreign words and trying to remember them in such a way will not
satisfy your brain. In order to remember vocabulary quickly, try to find the
activity for it. For example, write sentences with every new word. If one is not
enough – write 3, 5, 10 sentences! It is especially useful in case of learning
verbs, as they are usually used in many different forms and it’s harder to
remember them.
2. YOU ARE NOT OBLIGED TO BE A PERFECT STUDENT. It’s not a
crime to make mistakes. Especially, in speaking. Nobody has ever said, that if
you wil use “have” instead of “has” the person won’t understand you, or will
make fun of you. It is alright to not speak perfecty any language you are
learning from the very first days: you will make mistakes anyways, and by the
way of not being afraid to make them, you will get to perfection.
3. THINK OUT OF THE BOX. Learning grammar from the textbook and
vocabulary fromm the dictionary is not the only way to study languages. It will
be much more productive for you if you see, how those grammar rules, that
you’ve just learnt, are used. How can you do it? Open YouTube and watch any
speaking video in the language you are trying to learn. I’m sure, you already
know some of the most common words, so, you can just try to catch them, and
as soon as you get the main topic of what the person says, you start to
approximately understand the other words, that are actually unknown for you.
This is a perfect way to start speaking any language fluently and in short time.
For many people, learning languages seems to be some extremely hard and
unnecessary thing. Well, if you’re one of such people, you shoukd deffinitely
try some of those methods! Because very often, getting out of your comfort zone
brings you to better results then expected.
