Sky wedding (A rabbit’s story)
The ladybug sat undisturbed on the blade of grass, not caring that it bends under its
weight. She is tired. To rest, that's all he wants. The wind blows softly as she slowly
falls asleep.
Suddenly, she feels a shadow enveloping her. Sideways, she sees a large butterfly,
looking like a giant in the sun, how he leans towards her. Instinctively, she flies
away, leaving the yellow creature slightly disoriented for a few seconds. The daze is
dissipated quickly and a flower receives in her goblet the creature, without even
moving. Far away, the lovely sing of a little bird is heard and in a few seconds the
green field is finally covered by a deep silence.
Suddenly,2 rabbits cut the silence in opposite directions. Their beady eyes meet and
they stop curiously looking at one another. And in that time, two uncontrollable
movements of the same intensity and the same rhythm of the heart can be heard, for
he who knows how to listen.
Approaching with small jumps, the two rabbits have at same time the revelation of
new feelings which they both strongly believe that can happen only in books they
read with such passion in childhood. The bravest of the two is embarking on a
decisive leap, when he suddenly feels like flying, like someone or something was
pulling him towards the sky. With closed eyes and a smile that stretches his
whiskers, he remembers exactly this feeling, love, as it is described in books : a
feeling of floating and elevation.
Stunned by this revelation, he slowly opened his eyes to share with the other the
subtle feeling. His eyelids slowly rises but remain paralyzed in the middle of the
route, in a terrified look. In front of him, the other struggles helplessly in the grip of
death of a hawk. In a second, he realises that he was in the same kind of trap.
When their eyes meet, panic suddenly disappears and the deepest and profound
silence takes over. Up, up in the sky, away from all eyes, a miracle happens: two
rabbits are attending a silent wedding without the realization that the two will never
be able to live together, to respect their vows to hinder in any way their joy.
The sun becomes reddish and the wind subsided. The only sound that envelops the
valley is the struggle of two pairs of wings, heading each in a different direction.
