'Law & Order: SVU' Season 18 Episode 14 Spoilers: Rape victim was offered $5 million to shut Up
A top-level investment banker (guest Missy Peregrym) accuses her billionaire client (guest Tate Donovan) of rape.
The official trailer reveals that the rape victim was offered a staggering $5 million. This is an attempt to dissuade her from testifying in court against the perpetrator. Viewers are definitely interested on whether she accepts the money or not.
According to Carter Matt, “…The show (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) will be moving forward and presenting you (the viewers) a story in ‘Net Worth’ that takes on Wall Street, and some of the terrible things and pressures that can exist there.”
The latest episode follows the story of a rape victim who had to choose between keeping her career in place and aiming for the justice that she deserves.
The trailer, however, showed Detective Fin Tutuola (Ice-T) saying, “We have another victim and I think she deserves justice.”
This signals that they will fight for the victim amid the monetary offer.
It can be remembered that the previous episode titled “Genes”, followed the story of a rapist, Nick, who admitted to the fact of rape but blamed his “genes” for such crime.
Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), however, whose father was a rapist, told him that there’s no such thing as a “rape gene”. She emphasized that having a rapist dad doesn’t make one bad, evil.
This happened when the star witness in a serial rape case is determined to kill himself and Benson arrives just in time to save him.
In season 18, NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU” follows the life and crimes of the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department, an elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes.
'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' season 18 episode 14 titled “Net Worth” will air tomorrow March 29.
