The woman that you can see in this video was the 27-year-old, Rannita Williams, a
mother of three, who was forced to make a public apology during a Facebook Live
broadcast. (Insert Live)
And the man you can see standing behind her was her ex-boyfriend, 37-year-old
Jonathan Robinson, holding the gun that would eventually kill Rannita.
Just moments after that broadcast ended, emergency dispatchers received a chilling
911 call that directed officers to 1301 Natalie Street in Shreveport, Louisiana. When
police arrived, they were met with a horrifying scene.
They found the body of an innocent woman who had been shot and killed. And as the
police searched for the truth, they were met with the chilling discovery that the lifeless
woman was Jonatha’s sidechick.
But the horrors did not end there.
This is the life and death of Ranita Williams.
Rannita Williams, lovingly known as “Nunu” by her family and friends, was born on
September 27, 1990, and grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana—a city often challenged by
high crime rates and poverty.
Rannita was a mother of three children from a previous relationship that didn’t work
out, but being a single mom did not deter her devotion. Even with the demands of
raising them alone, she always made sure her kids had everything they needed. Her
children came first, no matter what. Those close to her admired how she managed to
care for her family while still chasing her own goals.
Alongside being a dedicated mom, Rannita built a successful career as an interior
designer, and she excelled at it. Thanks to her drive and determination, she earned a
strong reputation in her community for turning houses into inviting, stylish homes. She
often showcased her work on Facebook, which helped her gain a growing following
online. Her warm personality made people gravitate toward her.
Rannita’s world was filled with promise, anchored by the love she had for her children
and her dedication to her craft. But then, she met someone who would gradually
unravel everything she had worked so hard to build.
His name was Jonathan Robinson, a 37-year-old man from Shreveport, Louisiana, just
like Rannita. What she didn’t realize at the time was that her connection with Jonathan
would mark the beginning of a tragic series of events that would alter her life forever.
At first, Jonathan came across as someone who could be exactly what Rannita needed.
He showed interest, acted protective, and seemed genuinely supportive—qualities that
could easily appeal to a single mother trying to juggle life and responsibility. But it
didn’t take long before the cracks in his image started to show. Beneath the surface, his
real character began to emerge in painful and destructive ways.
Jonathan’s background was marked by a long history of trouble. Violence, crime, and
chaos followed him throughout his life. Growing up in Shreveport, he was no stranger to
the struggles that came with living in one of the city’s most dangerous neighborhoods.
But this is where he and Rannita differed. While she pushed herself to rise above those
challenges, Jonathan allowed himself to be shaped by them. Instead of striving for
something better, he became a reflection of the environment around him.
From a young age, Jonathan found himself in constant trouble with the law. Over the
years, his rap sheet grew longer, filled with violent acts and drug-related offenses. In
nearly twenty years, his criminal past expanded to include repeated arrests for
domestic abuse, aggravated assault, and even an attempted murder charge. Much of
his life was spent cycling in and out of prison. And no matter how many times he was
locked up, he always returned to the same destructive behavior.
Despite his troubling past, Rannita still chose to let him into her life. That decision,
though made with hope, would become one she’d come to regret. At the time, she
believed in giving people the benefit of the doubt, believing everyone deserved another
chance. So, she gave Jonathan one.
He didn’t just enter her world as a boyfriend. Early on, he also took on the role of a
father figure to her children. He showed up to school events, looked after them, and
stayed involved in their daily lives—something her former partner had never been able
to offer. In those moments, it seemed like he was becoming part of the family.
But there was something else Rannita didn’t see coming—another part of Jonathan’s
history that would eventually pull their relationship into dangerous territory.
Remember that video from earlier, where Rannita is seen apologizing moments before
she was fatally shot? That tragic scene didn’t happen out of nowhere—there was a
deeper story behind it.
Jonathan had been involved with another woman. Rannita wasn’t the only person in his
life. Without knowing it, she had become part of a complicated and toxic love triangle.
Long before Rannita entered the picture, Jonathan had an ongoing relationship with
someone else, and that woman would end up playing a central role in the chain of
events that led to Rannita’s death.
It is at this point that I wanna introduce Sharica Taylor from Houston, Texas.
In Jonathan’s life, Sharica Taylor wasn’t just another person—she had been a steady
presence for quite some time.
It’s unclear whether Rannita knew about Sharica from the start, but at some point in
their relationship, both women became aware of each other. And rather than walking
away, they seemed to settle into a tense and complicated arrangement. Rannita ended
up taking the role of the “other woman,” while Sharica was considered the “main
partner.” But that uneasy balance didn’t last—soon, the situation started to spiral.
Sharica played a major part in raising the friction that eventually led to a tragic
outcome. As the rivalry between her and Rannita grew, their emotions boiled over into
open hostility. That tension often played out online. Sharica frequently targeted Rannita
in public posts, airing accusations that only made things worse and added fuel to an
already unstable dynamic.
On the tail end of 2017, Rannita decided she’d had enough. She finally saw that she
deserved someone who would treat her as a priority. So she went on Facebook and
publicly announced that she was finished with Jonathan and ready to move forward. In
her mind, ending things with him would bring relief. She believed walking away would
mean freedom from the chaos. But what she didn’t realize was that her decision would
set off a far more dangerous chain of events.
Without realizing the storm that was quietly building inside Jonathan, Rannita turned
her attention to her kids, her work, and her own well-being. She was determined to put
the drama behind her.
But Jonathan wasn’t ready to let her go. He kept contacting her, asking for one more
chance. Eventually, Rannita gave in and let him back into her life. Still, the reunion
didn’t last. Not long after, their relationship ended again—and that’s when things took a
much darker turn.
At the beginning of 2018, a new wave of online arguments broke out between Rannita
and Sharica. During this time, Rannita shared that Jonathan was still trying to win her
back. But no matter how hard he pushed, she stayed committed to her decision to walk
away for good. She had finally started a new chapter and was seeing someone else.
But that choice slowly pushed Jonathan closer to the edge.
From Sharica’s point of view, Rannita was the one interfering, trying to take back a
man who wasn’t hers. Feeling hurt and angry over Jonathan’s ongoing interest in
Rannita, Sharica took to Facebook to vent. She posted: “Stop trying to ruin someone
else’s happiness by dealing with a taken man, cause you might just end up being
miserable.”
That post triggered the chain of events that would soon lead to tragedy.
Rannita fired back with her own message: “Don’t play with me, cus I promise ya, you
ain’t gone like the way I play back.” (Insert Facebook post)
The back-and-forth between Rannita and Sharica quickly escalated into an all-out feud
that stretched through the early months of 2018. Each new post or comment only made
things worse, adding more fuel to a fire that was already out of control. Jonathan,
unable to rein in the situation, began to lose his grip entirely.
But the breaking point came in the form of a Facebook livestream that shifted
everything.
Somewhere in April of 2018, Rannita went on Facebook live to respond to the
accusations Sharica had made—claims that Rannita was still chasing after Jonathan. In
the video, she didn’t hold back. Her words were sharp, and her tone showed nothing but
frustration. Rannita made it clear that it was Jonathan who kept coming back to her,
not the other way around. And then, she said something that struck a nerve: “Maybe
she can’t handle the truth that her man still wants me.”
On the morning of April 12, 2018, Jonathan Robinson left Houston, Texas, and headed to
Shreveport, Louisiana, where Rannita lived. This time, he wasn’t just angry—he came
armed, driven by rage, and with a deadly plan that would soon turn into a horrifying
reality.
It didn’t take long for Jonathan to reach the home of Anita Williams, Rannita’s mother.
The moment he arrived, the mood of the day shifted sharply—tension filled the air,
revealing the dangerous thoughts swirling in Jonathan’s mind. He forced his way inside
and immediately confronted Rannita, demanding that she apologize.
He wanted her to take back the things she had said online—the posts and livestreams
that he felt had embarrassed both him and Sharica. But when Rannita stood her ground
and refused to give him the apology he was looking for, things quickly escalated into
something far worse.
Jonathan stepped outside briefly, only to return moments later carrying a gun. In an
instant, the house turned into a terrifying hostage situation. Jonathan held Rannita, her
mother, and her brother at gunpoint.
During the chaos, Anita saw a chance to escape and made a desperate move for
safety. But before she could get away, Jonathan opened fire, hitting her. Rannita’s
brother was able to run and get out just in time, narrowly avoiding injury.
With her mother injured and no way out, Rannita felt forced to do what Jonathan
asked. Since her Facebook account was temporarily suspended, she used her brother’s
profile to go live and issue the apology. In the video, Jonathan is clearly seen standing
behind her, armed.
While Rannita was on the livestream preparing to speak, Anita managed to flee to a
neighbor’s home, where she quickly called 911 and reported the situation to the
Shreveport Police. (play call 11:07 - 13:03)
While all this unfolded, Jonathan’s attention stayed locked on Rannita. He was
determined to make her publicly apologize, claiming it was for the sake of his girlfriend.
But this wasn’t just about an apology—Jonathan wanted revenge, and he wanted
everyone to witness it.
He forced Rannita to go live on Facebook, making sure her fear and vulnerability were
visible to anyone watching. His goal was to humiliate her in real time. As the camera
streamed, he mocked her and vented his anger, fully aware that he controlled the
situation. Rannita, clearly frightened, tried to follow his demands, likely hoping it might
stop him. But Jonathan had already decided how it would end.
Without warning, he raised the gun and fired. He killed Rannita Williams, taking her life
in front of a live audience. The man who once claimed to love her had become her killer.
But the violence didn’t stop there.
Soon after, police arrived at the scene. Instead of giving up, Jonathan turned his
aggression toward them. At that moment, it became clear he didn’t plan on walking
away alive.
What came next was a tense standoff that lasted 80 minutes, with Jonathan
exchanging fire with the SWAT team.
SWAT officers and crisis negotiators surrounded the home, bracing for what could
become a fatal confrontation. But Jonathan wasn’t finished yet. Fueled by
uncontrollable anger, he kept firing at police, showing no signs of backing down.
In an effort to bring the situation under control, officers brought in Sharica
Taylor—Jonathan’s girlfriend—hoping her presence might calm him.
It was only then that Jonathan’s rage began to fade. Whether driven by emotion,
pressure, or fear, Sharica managed to talk him down. Her words reached him, and
eventually, Jonathan lowered his weapon. At that point, he gave himself up. Police
handcuffed him and took him into custody, finally ending the violence that had
unfolded that day.
After the standoff, investigators immediately began questioning Jonathan. What he
revealed next was deeply disturbing—even to seasoned officers. His confession during
that first interview exposed a level of cold planning no one expected.
Jonathan explained that he had made up his mind early that morning. On the morning
of April 12, he woke up with the intention of killing Rannita, and from that moment
forward, he followed through with a plan he had already set in motion.
Added to that, Jonathan went on to say that he had planned to provoke a deadly
encounter with law enforcement that day because he wanted his life to end. With that
goal in mind, he drove to his aunt’s house to pick up the firearm he later used in the
shooting, and earlier that same day, he bought 40 rounds of ammunition to carry out
his plan.
What made his statement even more disturbing was the combination of guilt and firm
resolve behind his words. During the interview, he broke down in tears at moments, yet
he continued to stress that he had made his decisions fully aware of the outcome he
was pursuing.
And with that, Jonathan Robinson braced for the legal consequences of his violent
actions—consequences that would be among the harshest the justice system can
impose.
Following the confession, prosecutors charged him with first-degree murder. In
Louisiana, that charge can lead to life in prison without the possibility of parole,
effectively removing any chance the offender has of harming others again. But given
the severity of Jonathan’s actions, he faced a more extreme punishment: the death
penalty.
However, an important decision shifted what lay ahead for him.
On July 24, 2019, Jonathan Robinson entered a guilty plea to first-degree murder
along with multiple counts of attempted first-degree murder. By doing so, he avoided a
possible execution and instead received a life sentence without the chance of parole.
Throughout the courtroom proceedings, Jonathan occasionally showed signs of regret.
At one point, he turned to Anita Williams and addressed her directly, expressing sorrow
for what he had done. Still, no matter how many explanations he tried to give for his
actions, nothing could undo the suffering he caused Rannita’s loved ones.
In that moment, the outcome became final—Jonathan would spend the rest of his life in
prison.
News of Rannita Williams’ tragic death sent shockwaves through the Shreveport
community. Her friends, relatives, and especially her children were left to cope with the
overwhelming loss caused by the cruel and senseless act that ended her life.
Anita, who was injured during the attack, carried not just physical wounds but the deep
emotional pain of losing her daughter. She shared her heartbreak and frustration,
expressing disbelief that someone she once trusted could be capable of such violence.
In response, the community came together to mourn and honor Rannita’s memory.
Candlelight vigils and memorials were held, offering comfort to her family and
recognizing the impact she had on those around her. At the same time, local leaders
faced increased calls to confront the persistent issue of domestic violence affecting so
many lives in Shreveport.
On April 21, 2018, Rannita Williams was laid to rest in Princeton, Bossier Parish,
Louisiana.
Her death stands as a powerful and painful reminder of the serious risks tied to abusive
relationships and the urgent need to address domestic violence before it leads to
tragedy.
