Staff Accountant full time

Role: Staff Accountant

Contract: Full-time Remote Contractor (40 hours weekly / 160 hours monthly)

Business Hours: Monday to Friday from 7 AM - 7 PM EST (service hours flexible during this time)

Rate: $1,000 - $1,500 USD monthly / $12,000 - $18,000 USD annually (salary is negotiable based on experience and location)

What You'll Do

As an Accountant, your role is essential in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Success in this position means effectively managing accounting functions, maintaining compliance with financial regulations, and supporting clients with high-quality financial reporting. Your responsibilities will include:

• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Oversee core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Identify, prepare, and post journal entries and adjustments as part of the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded.
• Review and verify financial transactions to maintain the integrity of financial statements and compliance with accounting standards.
• Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and special projects based on client needs, providing insights and recommendations for business growth and financial decision-making.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to address accounting inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and support strategic financial planning.
• Assess current accounting practices and workflows, identifying areas for improvement to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Ensure all financial processes comply with relevant accounting regulations and industry standards, mitigating risks and maintaining compliance.

What You Should Have

Must-haves:

• Minimum of four years of experience in accounting, including managing the financial close process.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least six months of experience working remotely for a company based in North America, Europe, Australia, or the UAE, preferably within an accounting firm.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms used by small businesses.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and its application.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Suite or Google Workspace (Sheets).
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of an organization.
• Strong leadership abilities, with a results-driven mindset and a commitment to achieving goals.
• Experience in employee relationship management and performance evaluation techniques.

Nice-to-haves:

• CPA, CMA, or an equivalent accounting certification.
• Experience handling multi-currency transactions and international accounting.
• Familiarity with financial automation tools such as Bill.com, Expensify, Ramp, or similar platforms.
