We are seeking a Senior Product Research Manager to drive our product research and development initiatives. This hands-on role combines strategic thinking with deep research expertise to drive our product portfolio expansion and optimization.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in CPG brands and high-volume product development, along with a proven track record of leadership in previous roles. While this position begins as an individual contributor role, the right candidate will have the opportunity to shape our research function and potentially build a team as the company grows.
Core Responsibilities
Product Development
--Guide the selection and development of 4-8 new products annually that meet company financial metrics
--Collaborate closely with industrial designers and designers to translate research insights into product specifications and listing images
--Lead supplier discovery, verification, and selection processes
--Develop product positioning strategies based on market research and competitive analysis
--Oversee quality control processes to ensure products meet company standards and customer expectations
--Collaborate with suppliers and the logistics team to resolve quality issues and implement improvements
--Contribute to quarterly objectives and key results (OKRs/Rocks) for product development
Research Leadership
--Establish and implement research methodologies and best practices across the organization
--Drive the product research roadmap and strategy
--Coordinate research initiatives across multiple product lines, categories and other marketplaces
--Contribute to quarterly objectives and key results (OKRs/Rocks) for product development
Hands-on Research & Analysis
--Design and execute comprehensive research strategies combining both qualitative and quantitative methodologies
--Conduct consumer insights research, polling, and user reviews
--Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes to identify product/brand opportunities
--Conduct keyword research and analyze competitor rankings to identify gaps and opportunities for product positioning
--Create financial models to evaluate product viability and potential ROI
--Create forecast of sales, profit and revenue
Stakeholder Communication
--Present research findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders
--Create comprehensive reports and presentations combining market insights, financial analysis, and strategic recommendations
--Facilitate effective communication between research, design, development, logistic and brand management teams and all 3rd party companies we are working with
--Participate in cross-functional team meetings to ensure alignment on product strategy
Required Qualifications
--5+ years of experience in product development/research roles
--Previous team leadership experience in a research or product development context
--Proven track record in CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) brands and high-volume product development
--Expert-level proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
--Strong background in financial analysis and modeling
--Strong understanding of consumer trends
--Strong project management skill
--Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and research software
--Exceptional presentation and communication skills
--Bachelor's degree required, but equivalent relevant experience will be considered
