The Senior Product Manager (SPM) drives the vision, development, and delivery of key modules in Mercans’ global payroll SaaS platform. This role leads strategic product planning, execution, and continuous improvement across assigned domains, ensuring alignment with business goals, customer needs, compliance requirements, and market trends.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap:
- Own product vision, roadmap, and delivery strategy for assigned verticals.
- Translate business needs and compliance mandates into epics, features, and backlog stories.
- Lead product delivery from discovery to release, ensuring quality, adoption readiness, and feedback loops.
Market Intelligence & Innovation:
- Analyze market trends, customer feedback, and competitor offerings to identify gaps and innovation opportunities.
- Define unique, forward-looking features and support Mercans’ market positioning.
Global Payroll Engine & Platform:
- Drive the strategic roadmap for payroll engine scalability, multi-country adaptability, and statutory compliance.
- Define architecture supporting gross-to-net calculations, multi-currency processing, deductions, taxes, contributions, and retroactive adjustments.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Engineering, and Data Science to implement AI/ML features like anomaly detection and predictive payroll error correction.
- Champion modularization and reusable components for scalable deployments.
Customer & Partner Success:
- Collaborate with Customer Success, Operations, and Support teams for feature adoption, onboarding, and value realization.
- Manage client escalations, provide enablement tools, and support partner integration.
Integration & API Management:
- Define requirements for third-party integrations (HRIS, ERP, WFM).
- Manage lifecycle of APIs and embedded integrations, ensuring security and SLA compliance.
Compliance, Security & Governance:
- Ensure statutory compliance across jurisdictions; maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Embed privacy, access control, and data governance into all product features.
AI/ML & Automation:
- Lead AI/ML initiatives for predictive error detection, intelligent configuration, and operational efficiency.
Product Analytics & Delivery:
- Define success metrics, track adoption, retention, and operational impact.
- Standardize product delivery processes, backlog management, sprint planning, and QA readiness.
- Maintain structured innovation pipeline and promote a culture of collaboration and customer empathy.
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
- Mentor junior product managers and associates; promote internal product education, ownership, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or Information Systems.
- 10+ years in B2B SaaS product management, 5+ years in senior/strategic product roles.
- 3+ years hands-on experience in payroll software/SaaS with global payroll knowledge.
- Strong technical proficiency in APIs, modular architecture, platform scalability, and integrations.
- Agile expertise, backlog management, roadmap ownership, and compliance-sensitive product delivery.
- Preferred: Master’s degree (MBA/MS), international payroll knowledge, SaaS white-label experience, monetization strategy, PMP/CSPO/SAFe certification.
