The Senior Product Manager drives the vision, development, and delivery of key modules within Mercans’ global payroll SaaS platform. The SPM leads strategic product planning, execution, and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with business goals, customer needs, compliance, and market trends. This role collaborates with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Operations, Business Development, and Support to deliver scalable, secure, and intelligent payroll solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Strategy & Roadmap: Own product vision, roadmap, and delivery for assigned verticals. Translate business and compliance requirements into epics, features, and backlog stories. Drive product delivery from discovery to release with continuous feedback loops.
- Global Payroll Engine & Compliance: Define payroll engine architecture supporting gross-to-net calculations, multi-currency, statutory deductions, and tax rules. Collaborate with Compliance to embed country-specific regulations and ensure audit-readiness. Implement AI/ML features for anomaly detection and predictive error correction.
- Platform Scalability & Modularization: Develop reusable components, feature toggles, and configuration templates for multi-tenant deployments. Standardize workflows to support scalable, repeatable delivery.
- Customer & Partner Enablement: Work with Customer Success and BAU teams for onboarding, feature adoption, and risk mitigation. Support white-label, reseller, and channel partner integrations with APIs and documentation.
- Integration & Ecosystem Management: Define technical requirements for HRIS, ERP, WFM, and finance system integrations. Manage APIs and embedded integrations ensuring SLAs, security, and extensibility.
- Operational Excellence: Align product features with operational workflows, reduce manual errors, and streamline onboarding. Lead process improvements, sprint cadence, backlog hygiene, and QA readiness.
- Change Management & Communication: Execute structured release management, internal readiness, and client communications. Provide impact assessments for high-impact or compliance-driven features.
- Analytics & Outcome Measurement: Define product KPIs including adoption, retention, task completion, and operational efficiency. Collaborate with Analytics for dashboards and post-release reporting.
- Team Mentorship: Coach junior product managers, promote ownership, customer empathy, and product education within the team.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Expertise in global payroll processes, statutory compliance, localization, and SaaS platforms.
- Strong technical knowledge in APIs, modular architecture, platform scalability, and integrations.
- Proven Agile product development experience, including backlog management, epics/stories, and sprint planning.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical mindset for product metrics, adoption, and performance tracking.
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, Business, or Information Systems; Master’s preferred.
- 10+ years in product management within B2B SaaS; 5+ years in senior/strategic product leadership.
- 3+ years in payroll software or SaaS, with compliance-sensitive product delivery.
- Preferred certifications: PMP, SAFe PM/PO, CSPO, or Pragmatic Institute PMC.
- Familiarity with GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and payroll rule engines preferred.
