The Senior QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of Mercans' software solutions through manual and automated testing. The role leads QA initiatives, develops automation frameworks, mentors junior engineers, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and drives continuous improvement across software testing processes.
Quality Assurance
- Lead testing activities for payroll and HRM applications.
- Develop and execute manual and automated test plans, cases, and regression suites.
- Perform functional, integration, API, performance, and regression testing.
- Identify, document, track, and verify software defects.
- Analyze complex business processes and system behavior to ensure product quality.
Test Automation
- Design, develop, and maintain UI and API automation frameworks using Kotlin, Selenium, TestNG, Maven, GitLab, and related tools.
- Improve automation coverage and optimize CI/CD testing pipelines.
- Promote QA best practices and continuous process improvement.
- Identify opportunities to enhance testing efficiency through automation.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor and support junior QA engineers.
- Work closely with Development, Product, and DevOps teams throughout the SDLC.
- Participate in sprint planning, risk assessment, and release readiness activities.
- Champion quality standards across projects and teams.
Continuous Improvement
- Perform root cause analysis of recurring defects.
- Recommend long-term quality improvements and testing strategies.
- Maintain knowledge of system architecture, integrations, and testing methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of software QA experience with strong automation expertise.
- Hands-on experience with Kotlin, Selenium, TestNG, Maven, GitLab, API testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Experience creating test strategies, test documentation, and automation frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with HR or Payroll software is an advantage.
- Develop and publish a comprehensive QA automation knowledge base covering API and Selenium testing standards.
- Enhance the employee data generator by adding additional fields, multiple email domains, and realistic test data generation.
- Migrate all UI automated tests from the weekly pipeline to the daily CI/CD pipeline.
- Improve automated test reporting by implementing enhanced reporting, action tagging, and report consolidation.
- Develop at least 10 load and performance tests covering Employee and Payroll modules.
- Continuously increase automation coverage, improve test execution efficiency, and reduce manual testing effort through process optimization.
