The Senior Consultant – BAU delivers accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services for global clients. As the main contact for clients and internal teams, the consultant manages multi-country payroll, resolves service issues, and keeps delivery aligned with contracts. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, client-focused, and able to work independently.
- Process multi-country payroll in line with local laws, payroll calendars, and agreed turnaround times.
- Validate employee data, earnings, deductions, taxes, and statutory contributions.
- Reconcile Gross-to-Net results, bank files, and General Ledger outputs before payroll release.
- Manage year-end processing, statutory reports, tax filings, audits, and required payments accurately and on time.
- Monitor regulatory changes and implement required updates.
- Serve as the main point of contact for payroll matters and communicate clearly about progress, issues, and deadlines.
- Ensure services remain within the contractual scope, manage expectations, and escalate possible scope gaps.
- Coordinate and document approved service changes with internal teams.
- Track customer support tickets, follow up on unresolved items, and ensure resolution within agreed SLAs.
- Prepare monthly SLA reports, analyze recurring failures, and recommend corrective actions.
- Accept new clients following implementation and Hypercare, reviewing process documents, configurations, service agreements, and handover checklists.
- Perform end-to-end payroll tests to confirm calculation accuracy, system configuration, and statutory compliance before BAU ownership.
- Maintain current process documentation and knowledge-transfer plans.
- Ensure at least one trained backup resource is available for each client to prevent service disruption during absences.
- Maintain SOPs, wage-type catalogs, data dictionaries, and client-specific payroll documentation.
- Record change requests, obtain required approvals, and track configuration changes through implementation.
- Identify manual tasks, workflow bottlenecks, and recurring errors that can be automated or simplified.
- Strong knowledge of multi-country payroll processing, taxation, statutory contributions, labor regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing SLAs, support tickets, escalations, client governance, reporting, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to manage onboarding, Hypercare transitions, payroll testing, service scope, and expectations.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- At least seven years of experience in global payroll processing, outsourced payroll services, or payroll consulting.
- Experience in customer tickets, SLA tracking, and service reporting is desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional payroll certification such as GPC, CPP, CIPP, or IPASS is preferred.
- Payroll accuracy: Achieve a 99.7% accuracy rate within six months through automated validation and additional reconciliation checks.
- On-time delivery: Maintain 100% on-time payroll submission for all cycles over the next 12 months using standardized calendars and reminders.
- SLA compliance: Reach 95% ticket-resolution compliance within three months through active monitoring and escalation.
- Statutory compliance: Maintain 100% accurate and timely filings and payments for the next 12 months, supported by automation and monthly audits.
- Client satisfaction: Achieve a 90% quarterly satisfaction score within two quarters through faster issue resolution and proactive communication.
- Documentation: Complete and validate SOPs, wage-type catalogs, and data dictionaries for all active clients within six months.
- Automation: Identify and submit at least five payroll tasks for automation within 12 months.
- Business continuity: Train at least one backup resource for every client within six months.
- Turnaround time: Reduce payroll processing time by 20% within six months by removing bottlenecks and improving workflows.
- Root cause improvement: Resolve at least 80% of recurring SLA failures within three months using monthly reporting and analysis.
- Portfolio capacity: Successfully manage at least 20 clients or 1,500 payslips per month within 12 months while maintaining accuracy and service standards.
