Our client is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to own and scale its analytics infrastructure. You will design and maintain the data warehouse, develop scalable reporting solutions, and turn complex data into actionable business insights. This hands-on role involves translating stakeholder needs and business logic into technical solutions, partnering with engineering on reliable infrastructure, and proactively improving how data is collected, modeled, validated, and delivered.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Warehousing & Architecture
• Design, build, maintain, and improve a scalable enterprise data warehouse.
• Develop reusable data models and data marts for recurring business needs.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, scalability, and maintainability.
SQL Server Development
• Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, production stored procedures, and views without disrupting downstream reports or applications.
• Translate business logic into scalable SQL solutions and improve query performance.
Amazon Data & Analytics
• Integrate and analyze data from Amazon Seller Central, SP-API, and Amazon Ads API.
• Understand each source’s strengths and limitations and recommend the best source for each business need.
• Develop insights on Customer Lifetime Value (LTV), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), advertising performance, sales, profitability, inventory performance, and operational KPIs.
Metric Accuracy & Validation
• Own business-metric accuracy.
• Define and document metric logic to keep definitions consistent and transparent.
• Reconcile results against Seller Central, SP-API, Amazon Ads API, and other systems.
• Investigate discrepancies, resolve root causes, and ensure reported numbers reflect business reality—not only technically correct query output.
Insights & Business Partnership
• Explain result drivers, proactively identify risks and opportunities, and recommend evidence-based actions tied to business outcomes.
• Partner with leadership, operations, marketing, engineering, and other stakeholders to understand goals, define requirements, and recommend scalable solutions.
• Ask thoughtful questions and challenge requests when another analytical approach better addresses the underlying problem.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
Reporting, Automation & Collaboration
• Build scalable dashboards, reporting solutions, reusable frameworks, and automated data workflows.
• Replace repetitive ad hoc reporting, automate manual processes, and improve data accessibility.
• Document reporting logic, warehouse architecture, and data definitions.
• Collaborate with software engineers on data pipelines, internal applications, architecture, integrations, and system improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 3+ years of hands-on SQL experience in a production environment.
• Advanced SQL skills: stored procedures, views, indexing, and query optimization.
• Ability to translate business logic into SQL rather than simply execute prewritten queries.
• Experience maintaining production stored procedures and views without disrupting downstream consumers.
• Proven experience building a data warehouse from scratch or significantly evolving one.
• Experience designing reusable data marts for recurring business needs.
• Deep understanding of Amazon Seller Central reporting, SP-API, Amazon Ads API, and their capabilities and limitations.
• Experience turning Amazon data into insights on LTV, CAC, advertising, profitability, inventory, and operations.
• Ownership of metric accuracy through documented logic and reconciliation across multiple source systems.
• Track record of explaining drivers, identifying risks and opportunities, and recommending concrete next steps.
• Experience scoping requirements with stakeholders and recommending scalable solutions rather than taking requests at face value.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• T-SQL experience.
• Experience with an ecommerce brand or agency.
• Strong programming mindset; able to collaborate with software engineers and contribute to software projects when appropriate.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and using AI tools such as Claude or similar platforms to improve productivity and accelerate development.
NICE TO HAVE
• Google Apps Script experience.
• Experience implementing dbt from the ground up.
• Git and version-control workflow experience.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL/Supabase.
