Payroll Clerk full time

We are seeking a reliable Payroll Clerk to process payroll for our employees on a [weekly/bi-weekly/monthly] basis. You will ensure the accurate collection of timesheets, calculation of wages, and timely disbursement of paychecks. The ideal candidate has a sharp eye for detail, experience with payroll software, and a fundamental understanding of payroll taxes and labor laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, verify, and input employee time and attendance data.
  • Process payroll cycles accurately and on schedule using [Software name, e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, Gusto].
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and reimbursements.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, time off balances, and deductions.
  • Prepare and distribute physical or digital paychecks/direct deposit advices.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax reports (e.g., W-2s, 1099s).
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee records and payroll data.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure new hires, terminations, and status changes are reflected in payroll.
  • Assist with audits by providing records and documentation as requested.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred).
  • 1–2 years of experience in payroll processing, accounting, or administrative finance.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations (e.g., FLSA, wage garnishments, tax withholdings).
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas) and payroll software.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
