Catalyst Career Consultants is seeking a motivated and organised Business Development Representative (BDR) to support the growth of our recruitment business.
The primary focus of this role is to identify potential employer clients, research key decision-makers, conduct B2B outreach, maintain our CRM, follow up with prospects, and help book qualified meetings for the Managing Partner.
This is a B2B lead generation and appointment-setting role, not a social media or general digital marketing position.
The successful candidate should be comfortable researching businesses, communicating professionally with Australian employers, using LinkedIn and email for outreach, and maintaining accurate records of every prospect and follow-up.
- Research potential employer clients across Australia
- Identify business owners, managers, HR representatives, recruitment managers and other relevant decision-makers
- Find and verify business email addresses, LinkedIn profiles and contact information
- Build and maintain a structured employer database
- Add and update leads in the CRM
- Send approved personalised LinkedIn connection requests
- Conduct professional B2B email outreach
- Follow up with prospective clients through LinkedIn, email and other approved channels
- Assist with phone outreach where required
- Qualify potential employer opportunities
- Identify businesses that are currently hiring or may have future recruitment needs
- Book qualified employer meetings for the Managing Partner
- Prepare short background briefs before employer meetings
- Record all communication, follow-ups and next actions in the CRM
- Re-engage older or inactive leads when appropriate
- Research regional employers, multi-location businesses and growing organisations
- Track weekly outreach performance and provide a short weekly report
Every lead should be properly recorded and moved through stages such as:
Researching → Ready to Contact → Connection Requested → Connected → Follow-Up → Replied → Conversation → Meeting Booked → Need Confirmed → Proposal → Client / Nurture
Every active lead should have:
- Current status
- Last contact date
- Notes
- Next action
- Next follow-up date
Initial targets may include:
- 25–50 new qualified employer accounts researched
- 20+ personalised first contacts
- 15+ LinkedIn connection requests
- 10+ employer emails
- 20+ follow-ups
- Regular phone or voice outreach where appropriate
- 4+ meaningful employer conversations
- 2+ qualified meetings booked
Targets may change as the business grows.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in B2B lead generation, business development or appointment setting
- Understands the difference between B2B and B2C lead generation
- Has experience using LinkedIn for prospecting
- Can research businesses and decision-makers independently
- Has strong written English
- Can communicate professionally with Australian businesses
- Is confident following up with prospects
- Is organised and detail-oriented
- Understands basic CRM systems
- Can work independently against weekly KPIs
- Does not rely on mass spam messaging
- Can personalise outreach based on the prospect’s business
- Is comfortable learning about recruitment and professional services
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Recruitment
- Staffing
- Professional services
- Australian B2B sales
- LinkedIn prospecting
- Email outreach
- CRM management
- Appointment setting
- Lead qualification
Success in this position is not measured simply by the number of messages sent.
The objective is to build a high-quality employer pipeline that produces:
Qualified employer contacts → conversations → meetings → recruitment opportunities → new clients
The Business Development Representative will create and progress opportunities, while the Managing Partner will normally handle important employer meetings, commercial discussions and closing.
