Firepoint Inc. is a Canadian fire safety consulting firm based in Brampton, Ontario. We produce Fire Safety Plans (FSPs), code compliance reports, and technical drawings for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings across Canada.
We are hiring a remote AutoCAD Technician to produce professional-grade fire safety floor plans, site plans, and code compliance drawings.
What You Will Do:
- Draft and revise fire safety floor plans in AutoCAD (2D) based on architectural drawings, site visit data, and written specifications
- Produce site plans showing hydrant locations, fire department access routes, assembly points, and key building features
- Create code compliance drawings including fire separations, exit travel distances, occupant load diagrams, and sprinkler/alarm zone maps
- Follow Firepoint's drawing standards, title blocks, and layer naming conventions
- Coordinate with the review team (Senior Technician and Project Manager) through our ERP system
- Manage your own task queue and meet turnaround deadlines (typically 3-5 business days per drawing set)
Requirements:
- 2+ years of production AutoCAD drafting experience (architectural, fire protection, or construction drawings preferred)
- Strong understanding of floor plan conventions, dimensions, scales, and annotation
- Excellent written English — all annotations, labels, notes, and correspondence must be clean and grammatically perfect
- Reliable internet connection and ability to work during overlapping hours with Eastern Time (minimum 4 hours overlap with 9 AM - 5 PM ET)
- Self-directed work style — you will receive a task briefing and drawing package, then execute independently
- Familiarity with building codes or fire protection standards is a strong asset but not required — we will train the right person
Nice to Have:
- Experience with BricsCAD (compatible with AutoCAD)
- Experience reading Canadian building code documents (Ontario Building Code, National Fire Code)
- Previous work in fire protection, life safety, or construction consulting
