Job Description:
The AI Expert – Document Scanning & Automation will be engaged on to design, implement, and optimize AI-powered document scanning and intelligent document processing solutions within Moodle to scan various PDFs that may contain language certificates issued by foreign countries and copies of employment contracts. These files may contain images or graphics (logos) and may be in a language other than English. All files will need to be retained for future references.
The client needs the AI/assisted technology to do the initial screening of applications for the Language Proficiency Examination, who will be applying for jobs through an assessment platform.
The primary objective of this assignment is to automate document ingestion, OCR processing, classification, metadata extraction, and secure storage for academic and administrative workflows. Users will upload files through the plugin the client is developing. The extension of the plugin using the AI engine, will be needed to analyze the file and determine eligibility according to a predefined set of rules.
This role requires hands-on technical implementation and delivery within a defined project timeline.
Key Objectives
During the contract period, the AI Expert will:
1. Assess current document workflows and define automation requirements
2. Design and deploy AI-based OCR and document classification models
3. Integrate third-party AI/OCR services into Moodle via APIs and/or custom plugins
4. Configure automated ingestion, tagging, and indexing workflows
5. Optimize model accuracy and processing performance
6. Develop reporting dashboards for document tracking and analytics
7. Deliver documentation and provide training to internal teams
8. Ensure full compliance with data privacy and security standards
Key Responsibilities
• Implement OCR solutions (e.g., Tesseract, AWS Textract, Google Vision API)
• Develop NLP-based metadata extraction and intelligent tagging
• Build or customize Moodle plugins for AI-based document processing
• Integrate with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) as required
• Conduct testing, validation, and performance tuning
• Maintain version control and technical documentation
• Provide knowledge transfer before end of contract
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related field
• 3–5+ years of AI/ML implementation experience
• Demonstrated experience with OCR and document automation tools
• Strong proficiency in Python, APIs, and database management
• Experience integrating AI solutions into LMS platforms (preferably Moodle)
• Understanding of FERPA, GDPR, and data security best practices
