AI Consultant full time

JTW LLC HQ: Portland, Oregon, United States Remote job May 15

What you’ll be doing at JTW.

JTW is hiring a part-time AI Consultant to help our creative and production teams adopt AI tooling where it genuinely earns its keep. You won’t be selling a vision — you will be embedded with photographers, retouchers, project managers, and producers, finding the high-friction tasks that AI can compress.

Examples of where this role lands: smart tagging and search across our digital asset library, retouching workflow automations, prototype ideation for fixture concepts, and structured prompt libraries for our copy and content teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Audit current creative and production workflows; identify high-leverage AI applications with measurable ROI for each.
  • Build, document, and roll out tooling on top of frontier and open-source models (GPT-5, Claude 4, Gemini 2, Llama) for specific JTW workflows.
  • Design prompt, eval, and RAG systems for studio use — copy generation, asset tagging, image enrichment, retouching review.
  • Prototype agentic workflows where appropriate using tool use / function calling and MCP-compatible servers.
  • Stand up an internal AI literacy program: workshops, prompt libraries, internal guides, model-selection guidance.
  • Set responsible-use guardrails — sources, IP, brand-safety, opt-outs — that respect our clients’ brand standards.
  • Run pilots with measurable outcomes (hours saved, error rates, throughput) before anything becomes a standard.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years in a senior technical or consulting role; 2+ years shipping LLM-powered systems in production.
  • Hands-on experience across multiple model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, open-source) and their trade-offs.
  • Strong prompt design, eval frameworks, and retrieval/RAG fundamentals — including embeddings, chunking, re-ranking.
  • Track record of working alongside creative or operations teams — not only engineering — and translating between them.
  • Comfortable writing Python or TypeScript well enough to prototype agents, evals, and small services.
  • Pragmatic about where AI does and does not belong; bias against shipping demos that don’t move the work.
  • US-based and authorized to work in the US.

Nice to have:

  • Background in DAM, MAM, or creative-ops tooling.
  • Experience designing AI products for image-heavy or content-production workflows.
  • Hands-on with image and video generation models (Sora, Veo, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion / Flux).
  • Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP), function-calling tool registries, or agent frameworks (LangGraph, AutoGen, OpenAI Agents).
  • Prior consulting engagements with agencies, studios, or in-house creative teams.

Benefits:

  • Pro-rated paid time off, sick leave, and US federal holidays
  • Provided equipment (MacBook + monitor) plus a $750 one-time home-office setup stipend
  • Monthly $80 internet and home-office stipend
  • Annual professional development budget of $2,000 (conferences, courses, books)
  • 401(k) plan with company contribution, available to part-time staff after 90 days
  • Optional QSEHRA health, dental, and vision stipend for part-time staff
  • Two paid trips per year to the Portland studio (travel + lodging covered)
  • Flexible scheduling — choose your working window inside US business hours
