BUSINESS REQUIREMENT
For any restaurant, it’s always a tricky task to manage customers with ease and provide best food
quality along with friendly services. On weekends, restaurants experience too much customer rush
and hence, becomes difficult to manage services. Some critical tasks for any restaurant are:
How to manage customer rush?
How to serve more customers in a manageable way?
How to setup sync between kitchen staff and waiter staff?
How to track tables’ availability?
OUR SOLUTION
In Penguin we created three different solutions in a single app to provide better restaurant
management system after considering all the aspects and issues faced by restaurant staff in
routine. The system allows the manager to divide work responsibilities between staff members
and get maximum output.
1. Queue app: It is targeted for customer queue management in rush hours. It can be used
by receptionist to manage table’s availability.
2. Captain app: It is the main module of Penguin. It is targeted for restaurant manager who
allocates tables to customers, takes order and provides bill to customer at the time of
releasing table.
3. Kitchen app: It is targeted for chef in the kitchen who can see what orders are coming up
from customers and notify manager when the order is ready.

Assign table to a new customer

Assign token to a new customer and put them in queue until table is free.
Assign same token number to a table and book it for the customer.
Check status of generated tokens and assigned tables to corresponding tokens.
Take parcel orders and check status
Once a booked table is released, send SMS to token user and notify them about their turn.

Chef can acknowledge the notification of any order placed by manager through captain
application.
Chef can view order details (order items, quantity and its priority) for each table.
Chef can place cooked items in Ready To Serve section and notify manager to pick ordered
item to be served.
